G2 Footstep sounds and FOV

Have there been any fixes / workarounds for the strangely quiet footstep sounds in Gothic II?

I've been putting off playing this game in the hopes that a patch would be out at some point. It's a bit frustrating when a creature stalks and kills you from behind becuase you had no idea it was even following you or nearby.

Also is there any way to change the view frustrum (FOV) in the game so that the camera doesn't appear so pinched and fishbowl like? Perhaps in an .ini file?

Thanks in advance.

I don't think there will be. I don't think the developers viewed it as a problem. The footsteps sound okay to me.

You canīt do anything about the footsteps.
Maybe you should activate 1st person mode in the gothic.ini.
