I'm replaying this game so I'll post something about it for those who are wanting to go retro. ROA:BOD is an extremely hardcore crpg. It has 7 positive stats, 7 NEGATIVE stats, maybe 40 skills and about 60-70 spells.
It's based on a German role-playing system called Das Schwarze Auge(DSA). You create a party of 6 adventurers and the goal is to locate the Blade of Destiny. This blade was used in the last Orc war and is believed to be the only hope of turning back the Orc hordes. Combat is turn-based and
the 3D graphics are still tolerable even today. When in combat, the party switches to a 2D grid where combat is resolved. This grid has a weird angle
which makes it impossible to see what is against the walls, but other than that it serves the purpose. What set's ROA apart from today's games is its
difficulty. You can easily be wiped out in this game if you're not careful. Disease is rampant outside of the civilized areas and wounds frequently become infected with Tetanus, or worse! This game is great for those looking for a stiff challenge. Casual gamers or graphics whores should not apply. If you want to attempt this game, drop me an email. I'll tell you what
you need to do to get it running on today's systems. _________________ 'nut

Blade of Destiny was the biggest and the best of all 3 in my opinion. If you export/import your characters through all 3 they will be overpowered by the 3rd game.
