Who can teach me how to pick locks other than Thorben??

I got approval from Thorben. I'm now an apprentice with Bosper because of the gold I can get from hunting (that's thanks to Gothic 1 for teaching me the value of hunting). Anyway, Thorben says that he doesn't trust me enough to learn that skill from him. How can I sway him to teach me that skill or is there someone else that I can go to teach me that skill. Also, tell me where I can find that other person.

it's been ages since i played but if memory serves me correctly, if you did the quest for *running off to check the name* matteo to get the gold off thorben's neice, he should then teach you (if you have the gold that is )

i think that the only other place to learn is the thieves guild (i'm sure you can probably find out how elsewhere on the forum, wouldn't want to spoil too much for you but i nonetheless highly recommend getting the skill)

All you gotta do is say the name and tell me where to find the person . That or post how i can get thorben to trust me.

As for spoiler, don't worry about it because I know how the ending will go... the good guy wins.

well if you did the quest for matteo (for him to agree for you to apprentice one of the others) thorben should find you trustworthy although i'm not sure if you can get him to teach you if you didn't do the quest and have already apprenticed (personally i did all of the apprentice quest including constantino before buying/beating him up for the herbs back just to get max xp. no wonder i ended up joining the mercs lol)

as for the thieves guild i believe it's ramirez although you'll no doubt need to join them first (by acting appropriately on the 3 thieves guild related quests)

beyond those 2 i'm not sure of any other way of getting pick locks although there is probably an option on the console

and on you final note you have to admit that with the intro of G2, the good guy didn't fully win in G1, just goes to show that you should never trust an orc builder (although how much of a good guy you really were could be up to debate considering you got thrown in the colony in the first place )

Thorben will find you trustworthy if you finish the Matteo quest for repaying Gritta's Gold (Thorben's niece) by paying the 100 pieces of gold for her. He will then train you although for the cost of 200 gold pieces (money he owes btw to the money lender probably because Gritta is a shopaholic, in my opinion, and tries to live like she is the kings wife rather then a widow living in the good graces of her family).

You can also learn lockpicking from Cassie in the thieves guild who will teach you for free if you enter the guild by sparing each of her cronies (Rengaru, Nagura, and Halvor) or you can pay her 200 gold pieces like you do Throben if you turn any of the three in to Lord Andre.

To the best of my knowledge, from playing the game, those are the only two who teach you how to pick locks which I think is a must have skill in the game even if you never take from someones house you will encounter many chest that require this skill to open that are fair game by just about anyones standards.
