On September 8th I leave for the Navy. It will probably be a few months before anybody hears from me so I just wanted to say "good bye."

Good luck. Should give you excellent credentials when you get back to civilian life!
Dont worry too much, Navy is a relatively safe choice for the military, especially when compared to the Marines & such like.

Navy? I new deep down you were a fruitcake. With your Min. accent and kind ways I'm sure you will be very popular out at sea. Have fun dotting all those i's.
Serioulsy though, good luck, stay safe, and thank you from the bottom of my heart for joining the military at such a violent and hateful time and protecting my family. And thank you for being selfless when selfish seems to be the standard. You are a good guy and I hope for the best for you. Bring plenty of soap on a rope.
Make sure you use and abuse all the options open to you while you are in, and especially when you get out. Take correspondence classes if offered whenever possible. If your duty allows you to attend night classes at a com college then take advantage. Most importantly, make sure you use your college benefits when you get out.

Roqua: I knew somebody was going to have to make a joke eventually. Surprisingly you're the first. I was expecting to have to punch a few of my friends when I told them I was joining the Navy.
