Hey Rend, I would be interested in running a Morrowind site here at RPGDot if I could some other people to help. Would this be feasible and is there anyone else that would be interested in helping me with it?

I call... Beta Previewer! Though my knowledge of HTML and whatnot is not huge, I'll offer my services.

EDIT: It should be MorrowDot, it sounds better.

Yes, it is very good remark.
When I thinking about time needed to programme it...
I have two main doubts about this idea:
  • isnt this a bit retro
  • Am I able to produce it alone - no I need at least someone with better English .

Well, if you really really want to run a site like Morrowinddot with us, then you're welcome. But think about it twice. It would mean that you'll have to spend at least 2-3 hours a day for the site. If you are serious about it, mail me. We can talk out details then...

In addition to what Rend said, let me say that not a lot of HTML knowledge is needed. You will get a designed site, completely up and running. You get access to the RPGDot database to enter your own stuff and any news about Morrowind posted on RPGDot will be automatically displayed on the Morrowinds site also.

It will resemble the look of Gothic, but then with different colours and a different logo.

The html skills required can be thaught very easily, given the fact that you have a proper html editor (and a proper html editor is NOT equal to frontpage)

Well, once it comes out I doubt I will have that much free time left.

I'm giving it some thought... I spend 2-3 hours a day reading the Morrowind forums and in Morrowind IRC chat anyway right now... the only thing I'm not sure about is how much time I'll have free once the game comes out like Sauron said... Hmm anyone out there got some graphical talent? I can write but I have no artistic talent so would need someone to help with some graphics...

Incindium: What graphics are you referring to? If the site is going to be MorrowindDot then you get a complete working site, with graphics and all.
If needed I can have the Morrowind site up in 24 hours, graphics included.

Myrthos I thinking about the title page top of the page graphic like the RPGDot with dragon. Hmm I was thinking there would be a need for more graphics but after paying attention to the Gothic site layout I see that that would be about it.

Oh that one To tell you the truth we had a Morrowind site running for a while, although invisible, so I have a top logo as well, done by Arkray.
If we you and Rend can come to terms with this than I can put that up and if you don't like it than you can make an effort to change it, but tyou would at least have a site to start with.

Actually, we could have every site up and running within 24 hours after the graphics are done. This was one of our goals when rebuilding RPGDot from the scratch last summer. And as Myrthos said, we had three sites running as a test: GothicDot (which became a "live" site thanks to Gorath), MorrowindDot and WorldofWarcraftDot. The latter two have been taken down again when we moved the server, but they were fully functional, had the relating content from RPGDot (we didn't even had to update them, since the correpsonding newsbits from RPGDot appeared there automagically *g*). We aren't really limited to sites about a single game, by the way, we could easily build half-automated sites for: genres, series, even for games that start with the letter X . The system works like "Gamespy inverse" - the main hub (RPGDot) is feeding the individual sites, not the other way round. This way, the team for the sub site can concentrate on features, hints, articles and such. The "major" newsbits for the game are delivered by us, but of course you are free to add your own news that we couldn't cover because we aren't specialists, but generalists within our genre.

It all comes down to this: we don't want to have "dead" sites running. Each and every site needs a live team (which is working pretty independently from us) - without that, we don't put the site online. We could easily put up a dozen of game related sites and prentend we are a big network, but then these sites would just be mirrors of RPGDot with their own navigation and layout. That#s nothing we would want.

Now, i you are still interested in running a Morrowind site (which will be pretty busy for a long time due to all the mods we can expect) - let me know. Your concern regarding the lack of time when the game is sold: what should I say? *g* - it's hard for me to find time for games in general. This is something you'll have to live with if you are doing a news site.

I could lend some help, but just that. Contributing with articles/tutorials. Mod/plugins reviews and a news now and then...

Gwendo, great. Offer that help for Incindium, since he's going to run that site.

BTW - framework is set up, content transmitted - should go live soon
