U S version....how will it differ from the UK version?

hi all....I subscribed to this here rpgdot, just as soon as i read their GLOWING review of Gothic 2!! i liked G1 very much.

---a major question: Atari, the preview says, is going to make "enhancements' to the UK version, for the U S release!
?????
i wonder what these are??
As this forum already nibbles at...probably better voice acting and maybe a patch, sort of, above the 1.31 patch already present.

does anyone know more?!

They wont change anything. All they are going to do is apply the patch.

Its all just a load of PR hot air.

Welcome to the forums!

We don´t know it.
I also think everything more than a patch would be a surprise. The whole thing sounds like a PR stunt to me. Atari needs a reason for the long delay.

They will probably remove the sex scene.

"Developer Piranha Bytes had already localized the game, but the version that reaches US shores will be somewhat different, and it should benefit from the additions that Atari is making."

From gamespot preview dated 10/28...

None of the US reviews mention anything at all. But neither do they mention any crash issues so maybe it's less buggy.

Also what are the voices in the UK version? The US one has very US accents.

They changed the ver. # so they did something...By the way, most people in the US aren’t anal retentive.

Maybe, but that certainly hasn't prevented the election of a majority of "anal retentive" lawmakers to the US Congress.

Oh, come on! We Americans can't be all that bad, now! Anyway, the U.S. version of Gothic was cencored for nudity, but not for blood, gore, and language. Go figure. My guess is if the sex scene is mild, they won't remove it, but if it's ummm. . . NOT mild, they will remove it. One of the content discriptors on the U.S. version is "Strong Sexual Content," so I'm not sure if they did remove it. By the way, is the sex scene inevitable, impossible to avoid? Because I'm just not too keen for some reason on having a sex scene in the game.

Be sure to post back with the differences between the two. I am willing to purchase the us version also if it has more then just a few bug fixes.

One thing I noticed

It seems as if in the non-u.s. version of Gothic 2, that the guards gaurding the governor's house in Khoronis stand at the fence opening whereas in the u.s. version they stand just in front of the doorway to the house.

Am I correct? I have the U.S. version and the guards are standing just outside the door to the governer's house. Another person with a non-us version was telling me that in his game, they are standing by the fence surrounding the house.

This would demonstrate at least one simple difference, which would then beg the question about other differences being in place.
