?'S must die

My second TIME AROUND team is a doozie! they're so bad I really have to pay attention just to stay alive! I'm in Arnika, lvl 8 except for vi and can't identify yet. i have question marks every where and would like to know which character will identify first. Myles, Vi,Lord Diesalot,Lizard fighter, Ranger pushing for alchemist of the week,Fem bard, fairy Mage,Mook gadgeteer. I spent all weekend trying out teams, chose badly and am developing them wrong! Best Game yet! buying scrolls for ID is not fun after 10 times. Unidentified stuff backfires, I've blown away my team a few times experimenting with ?Bombs(big mistake). And a Lord is good for What? again. Thanks

Identify is a level 2 Divine and Psionic realm spell. As soon as your Divine caster (Vi or your Lord) can cast level 2 spells, then you can get the identify spell.

Lords are fighter-priests, a la valkyries. Difference is in skills. For lords, special abilities are health regeneration & dual weapon skills. Weapons of choice are sword and dagger. First time through, my lord was a swordsman and healer - I kept him with a cursed sword, so his distance weapon skills never developed, and used his spells for his distance attacks.

Analyzing your party as lord, fighter, ranger, bard, mage, gadgeteer (skipping Vi & Myles who will come and go), it's challenging - no early healers (level 5 for lord & ranger). If you drop the NPCs for whatever reason, I have a suggestion to try for party formation for the first part of the game to make it easier: go with a 0 in front row, 5 in middle, mage in back. Put your bard & gadgie in the middle with the fighter, with the lord & ranger on the flanks. I suspect you will be using the lord & ranger to cast a lot more in the early rounds, and your bard & gadgie will have to stand in as tanks temporarily (which they can do, if properly trained). Later, when your bard & gadgie have more effects, then maybe revert to the traditional 3-3 formation, pulling them off the front line.

And I suggest keeping Vi around as much as possible - you'll need her for the healing. Long run, your lord will be higher level, hence better, but the redundancy will help.

I disagree about the weapons for Lords. Their Dual bonus combines nicely with the Mace bonus on Mauler to make Diamond Eyes the most effective secondary weapon in the game. It's always best to dual-wield the same weapon type, too, so it gets developed faster. Unfortunately, Hammers are kinda weak, and the early maces don't do much damage, but they are good for KO's. Disruptor Mace (Crock) is a nice primary mace, with 25% Paralyze.

I gave the diamond epee to the Lord and thanks for the dual weld advice! I miss the Bishop and will keep vi all thru the game as before. Her Constant bitching in the Rapax Places is amusing. A five person front line makes sense cause individually they're still kinda weak. This team demands more attention for sure.I don't know whether to make my lord a tank or caster. I ran out of poison potions but I keep healing the poisoned ones and it wears off, seems to work especially on the Lord with the Health Regeneration
I'm in the North Wilderness looking for the Diamond for some cash hoping the Priestesses or whatever they are don't see me.thanks

My statement wasn't meant as a commentary on what would most effective throughout the game. I was paraphrasing the manual as to what lords were naturally good at.
