NotR - Dragons

Ok, I've previously played Gothic 2 without the expansion and didn't have too much trouble with the Dragons. By the time I fought them I had Knight Armor and a Blessed Ore Blade. I just used a speed potion, ran straight into them and hacked at them until they died. It took me a while to figure that out but it worked fine. They couldn't knock me back if I did this and the fire breath didn't deal enough damage to kill me before they fell.

NotR is different, however. By different I mean incredibly difficult in comparison. Everything is just tougher overall. I've made due up until now.

I'm trying to kill the Earth Dragon. I cannot do it. My old tactic doesn't work anymore. He just deals too much damage. The odd part is, I'm stronger than I was at this point in regular Gothic 2. I'm a level 32 with light Dragon Hunter armor. I have the Claw of Beliar improved to 111 damage and 34% critical. I have 80 fire resistance, 45 magic, and 100 weapon/arrow.

Does anyone know what can be done? I probably could kill him if the Claw of Beliar would deal critical damage every hit, but that just doesn't happen. Oh, and the Dragon regenerates while you fight it! How the hell? I haven't tried until I'm homicidal yet. I decided to ask first. The difficulty of the game with NotR added is just disgusting. I'm a level 32 piece of crap.

Oh, I can't wait until I fight the Ice Dragon...

I've thought about what I might do and figured that I could roam around the entire game and kill everything for a couple levels. Then with that I could spend it on strength and maybe get more damage per hit. I have about 86 strength as of right now and 90% two-handed weapon skill. The Claw of Beliar has been a great weapon thus far, but against Dragons it isn't too effective. I need consistant damage. I don't have nearly enough strength to use a high damage weapon, though.

Help me, please! D=

You could have taken Gorn with you

Since you are a little weak, distract him. A few skeles work nicely

Gorn doesn't come up there, he just escorts you to the tower

I ended up running around the map with Biff killing a bunch of stuff for a couple of levels. He couldn't follow me up to the Earth Dragon lair, but I used a Summon Demon scroll and it wrecked the dragon. I hit it a few times for probably half its life, but I could have sat back and watched the demon kill it by itself. I did the same thing against the Fire Dragon. For the Swamp Dragon I recruited Biff, Rod and Cipher. They crushed it in a couple seconds. For the Ice Dragon it was just me and Biff. He tanked it and I ran around to its sides and back for some heavy damage.

Since then I've stocked up on Summon Demon spells. B)

The first time I played the game I ignored people to recruit. I felt that they would just get in the way. In truth they weren't really needed in the original Gothic 2, but they are essential in NotR. I'm glad about that too.
