New Detonator-XP Driver

On nvidia.com there is a new Detonator-XP driver for Windows XP/2000 version 29.42

Anyone who has installed this on there Geforce 3 Ti 500(mine) or any other Geforce 2+ cards notice any differences in Morrowind? Do you think this increases FPS?

I'm not absolutly sure.

It did nothing for me in Morrowind. But Gothic runs smoother than ever for some reason.

That driver has been out for a while now. But ya it improves it a little bit.

I have a GeForce3 Ti 500 and I didn't notice any performance boost for Morrowind.

Same here, but i do have a bit longer gameplay without crash
And it really seems that gothic looks like a bit faster, maybe just my imagination, how many others have that same feeling?

yah, the new drivers dont make a big splash, they only add a control for anisotropic filtering for openGL games. maybe a better antialiasing filter, too, at least thats what i think.

I currently have a GeForce TI 500 with an Athlon 1800 CPU and am using the 23.11 drivers. What is the best setting for anisotropic filtering? Is it 2x, 4x or 8x or none. It is now set to the default which is none. Also what should anti aliasing be set at: 2x, 4x or the quincunx. It is set to let the application decide.

well, since you've got a good CPU and video card, i'd say 4x for both.
but its up to you really, just go with what your eyes like best. Also it will slow down games like Morrowind or medal of honor, but only slightly.
anisotropic is a step up from trilinear, it affects how a polygon gets rendered. Im no scientist, but if you play 3D games you can test this part out in the options of most games.
lets just say that anisotropic is more complex, therefore your game will look better and smoother-but run slower. this is where your preference comes in. same thing with antialiasing. this effect smoothes the edges of rendered polygons, making games look less like they are on a computer(less pixelated)and more lifelike.
so, your dilemna is as mine and everyone else's...faster performance, or better looking?
just make sure you have 256 megabytes DDR ram and at least 266mhz Front side bus on your motherboard. thats probably what you have, since you have an athlon 1800. cheers mate
if anyone wants to elaborate , please feel free
