Basic Questions About Gothic? |
|
I just received Gothic yesterday for Christmas, and I must say it looks like it will be fun to play.
I was wondering if there are any patches or updates I should download.I am currently using version 1.08?
Also is there a way to re-map the controls,so that you can control your character with the mouse?I guess I've gotten used to Baldurs Gate & Icewind Dale. I hope I can get used to these new controls.
Thanks in advance for any help, and Happy Holidays to all.

for patches or updates I dont know.
but regarding to the second question of yours playing Gothic 1 or Gothic 2 with mouse will make it more difficult as everytime you are facing an enemy or something to pickup and iteract you have to press the Ctrl button. But if you insist to play with mouse there is nothing to do right clic to fight enemies up,down, left and right where your character looks.... enjoy _________________ I come from space. From outer space! |

For patch go here. It's on the Gothic Hosted RPGdot site under gallery special. Be sure to get the right file. http://newspics.rpgdot.com/galview.php?level=3&sort=&from=9&d2=10&d3=Special&d4=&d5=Not much to do about controls in G1 as BTB said. _________________ =Member of the Nonflamers Guild=

Install patch 1.08k, mod player kit 1.08k and the FPS patch. All files can be found in the dir cmckj50 mentioned. Then read the first few pages of the cheat guide to find out how to tweak the game and download JemyM´s FAQ for the controls. BTB was wrong, you can also use the LMB instead of Ctrl. _________________ Webmaster GothicDot |

No, you can use the mouse buttons as substitutes for ctrl and alt in Gothic. That's what I did and it's easier that way. _________________ OMG! WTF?! MONKEYS!!!!

Gorath,I found the patches you told me to download. One question, what do they fix or correct?
Also when I went to the keyboard options in the game and I couldn't re-map any keys to my mouse. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Mouse functionality is hardcoded. LMB = Ctrl, RMB could change depending on situation. If you have a gamepad it could be worth a try.
The FPS patch is a mod which unlocks the frame rate. The others are needed to run mods. When the mod player kit is installed you have to start Gothic through gothicstarter.exe. _________________ Webmaster GothicDot |
