Help Going Forward

I may just have taken a weak character-building path, but here is my problem.

First off, a few notes:

1- Level ~8 or ~9
2- Mercenary
3- Abilities- STR- 40, DEX- 25, HP ~130
4- Skills- Blacksmith, weakest Heal potion, 3 hunting skills, Lockpick
5- Weapon skills- 2Handed- 40, Crossbow- 25
6- Armor- medium merc armor
7- Tough Animals I can kill- Lower Skeletons, LIzards, Snappers
8- Animals I CAN'T kill- Wargs, Orcs, Shadowbeasts, Trolls, Skeletons, Minecrawler Warriors

Here is my problem... I am supposed to go to the Pass. However, I get creamed by the Orcs...

So, I decided to do some hunting to get my stats up, but I think I am running out of prey I can kill. I have been all over the Island.

Does anyone have any leads for me? Do I just have a weak character makeup?

Any hints would be VERY appreciated!

Thanks!

1.your character is very weak to hunt orcs!
2.The orcs in the Vally of mines are stick together so it's hard to kill them even if yor level is 20 or even more!
3. go to do your quest and then kill da orcs!

You mean you can go past the orcs without fighting them (and without sneak)?

NOTE- please just answer YES or NO... if YES, then I will find the way... THANKS!

I don't understand your reply...

Can you fulfill the quest to go to the Pass without having to fight the Orcs?

When you have been all over the island and killed most of the creatures you should get to lvl 15-16 easally. I think its too early to go fighting with the orcs.

Having a character at lvl17 with strength 77, hitpoints 355, two-handed skill 70 and sword with damage 55 I find killing orcs enjoyably easy ;o
Have killed first 22 orcs in VoM without using any healing. Lost most of my health when I took out 4 orcs who were attacking me on the same time. 1-2 orcs do very little damage. Cant wait to get 3 more strength points to get my hands on dragon slicer sword which do 80 damage. Also, If I could get some decent armor in place of my standard milita armor then it would be killer.

It's unlikely that you killed every acceptable monster on island. I think you should explore some eastern areas -- there are lost of monsters, but you should be cautious with snappers and skeletons. And you COULD pass in WoM without figthing any orcs. You should look for a cave at left side of pass.

First- I didn't mean to imply I had killed all the creatures... what I mean is, the only ones I find now are too tough.

Second- what is "WoM"?

wom = walley of mines
and you dont have to fight them, theres another passage and heres a trick for ya
Spoiler:
whenever you desperately need to get past someone, but cant fight your way through, you could transform into an animal, dont think this works on minecrawlers, the undead or humans(unless youre a sheep) though.

not sure if this is a spoiler

Thank you everyone!

Actually, I found the problem- after the cave, it was night, and I took a right instead of a left... which took me right up to some orc army...

Upon a third examination of the area, I found a huge, obvious passage that ran left, and I was able to get to the castle...

Thanks all!
