Problem with start!

I have a problem with starting the game. Instalation goes succesful. Then when trying stert game, Windows shows Critical error. the messege is:

"Resource file is either corrupt or unreadable, possibly due to hardware failure. Try replacing or repair the file (reinstall?) to fix this problem.
File on disk:
'C:\program Files\Microsoft Games\Dungeon Siege\resources\Objects.dsres
Internal info:
last error = 0x00000017"

I use:
Win 98, PIII 750, 384 RAM, DirectX 8.1, Elsa Erazor X (GeForce 256 Rev A) 32 MB.

Is anyone know how to solve this problem?
(sorry for my english)

The only known fix for this problem is to reinstall. If that doesn't work, it may be that your CD is flawed. I would try reinstalling first, and then if that doesn't work email the folks at www.dungeonsiege.com for some help or possibly a cd replacement.

Hi Ephrael

In these cases a reinstall will usually fix the problem. Although it is possible as vaticide suggests that the disc could have a fault, they don't usually. (Unless you can physically see a scratch or something)

when you reinstall, make sure that you don't have any other applications running at the same time. Also make sure that you reboot the machine between install attempts.

If you do suspect the cd.... try installing it on a friends system to eliminate that option. (or confirm it)

Good luck, hope you get it going.
