| What RPG had the most impact on you? |

Suikoden 2 was closest to me. I felt how hard it was for friends to fight because of things that are beyond their contro. That what they only want is to live in peace but they can't. It's somehow the reflection of our world and the conflicts between people.

Definitely Gothic. That game had characters I liked and cared about. And it was so free-form! Pure extasy!

I think the Ultima series affected me the most. I played them when I was a young and impressionable lad. (  )
They taught me the value of having virtues/prinicples/morals... whatever you want to call them. But, whether I actually use what they taught me is debatable...

Gothic, hands down, for me.
I was in awe of the game from the start........Well, not really the start since the controls were a handful to get used to. But, after I mastered the difficulty of the controls and the graphics and running issues I was sucked in. The graphics and interactions and choices in gameplay were fantastic for me. Then when I found out that they were making Gothic 2 I was in ecstasy all over again! THEN when I waited 40,000 years until they actually released the game I found out my system wasn't good enough. I started playing it anyway. I was so very thrilled that I had my hands on G2. Within 3 days my system was running the game so slowly that I had to put it away.
There it sits to this day. *sniffles*
But, it changed the way I look at games and also changed the genre I buy.
Gothic, hands down.

Oh boy... I would go back in time. There's several games that left permanent impressions in my head:
Ultima Underworld. My first CRPG. I didn't know it was a CRPG. I didn't know what a CRPG was for that matter. I just remember playing that game for hours. Shadows Over Riva: just brilliant. Daggerfall: I can't remember a game that had me glued to my computer as much as this one. I remember calling sick to work to play all day long.  I had no social life while playing it. Lands of Lore II: The ambience in the Dracoid Ruins was so intense that even today, every time I hear windchimes I am transported to that place.
Aaaahhh!!! you brought so many fond memories...

Gothic 2. I never played Gothic 1 and no I can't get it anywhere.

Vampire The Masquerade Redemption:
I dont know, but after i finished this game i realy felt empty.
Prince Of Persia Sands Of Time:
The Prince and Princess where falling in love with each other after some time.
The Prince even wanted to marry her, after a while she was so in love with the Prince that she stole the dagger of time from him and tried to bring it back, but she failed and died.
The Prince returned the dagger of time into the sandtimethingy and returned back in time, after he returned only he still knew what would happen in the future.
He went back to the caslte of the princess and told the story of what would happen in the future.
After that their love suddenly had come to an end.
It realy gave me a strange drained feeling. |

For me it was Lands of Lore 1 because it was the first CRPG I consciously played as one.
There are a good deal more which impressed me to no end for different reasons (I loved Daggerfall for its epic size, JA 2 because of the NPCs and setting, Deus Ex because of the repercussions seemingly small events turned out to have, Gothic because of the NPCs and atmosphere... etc.), but LoL was the first CRPG to make a deep, positive impression on me. The impression was so deep that I lay awake most of the night for nearly two weeks just because I was stuck and didn't know how to continue (the answer finally came to me while I was riding on a bus).
The first CRPG to impress me deeply in a thoroughly negative way was Dungeon Master 2. Definitely not my cup of tea.

I will have to agree with Roach. PS: Torment just blew me away. Its the only RPG I have played that I was completely absorbed in the world and felt like I was actualy there.
The Gothics are very good, but when I play them, I always feel like I am playing a game (Which happens with all other games apart from PS: Torment).
To me, PS: Torment was like a very good book...

I would have to say BG 2. It was my first real RPG and I loved every minute of it. And after that I gradually hooked to playing RPGs |
