I think in the end... I was the only living non-invincible thing left in the colony. Survival of the fittest. I was NOT a model prisoner.

That is what I did the first time around.

The second time I turned the OC into a zoo. I used marvin mode and inserted every kind of creature I could think off, then left.

The told me that they didn't need me anymore, so I wanted to show them just how weak and pathetic they where without me .

Now I try not to rob anyone, let alone kill them. It's harder going... you don't get as strong as fast.

I was rather pissed the 1st time I played Gothic. Out of the 3 camps, I liked the Old Camp the best. I liked the idea of the stong in power positions, and getting wine, good food and women from the king in exchange for ore.I also liked their philosophy, the strong are in power positions, the weak mine ore and help provide luxuries for the strong. Plus I thought the O.C. had the coolest city...I mean they had a castle, and fortress walls surrounding their town! And they had the best guilds, I liked the Shadows and Guards. So I worked my way up the ranks becoming a guard.
And then what happens? Gomez goes off the deep end and wipes out the mages, and bans me from the camp although I've been completely loyal. Lets just say the streets ran red with blood when I finally returned to the Old Camp.

I wish the game would have had multiple endings though, and whatever faction you finish with has a different ending. That way I could have also stayed with the Old Camp!

I think the problem was that there WAS no end for the Old Camp. They didn't want things to change at all. They resigned themselves to life within the barrier. Your character wanted OUT. Every time it comes up in a dialogue, he natters about wanting OUT... how to get OUT. Escape plans, everything.

as he says "I have no intention of digging ore for the next 10 years.".

So an end for the Old camp would have occurred... um... chapter two?

"And ascending to the ranks of Guard, I contented myself with the knowledge that despite my lack of freedom... at least HERE I was SOMEBODY..."

*roll credits*

I disagree about the Old Camp. Of course your character wants out, because he is a nobody. But if your character could replace Gomez as the Ore baron that might be a different story. Even though its a prison, he can get any woman he wants that is sent in,he's rich, and lord of the city. Its not a bad life. Its certainly better than the alternative, an escaped convict nobody on the outside. They could have had an Old Camp ending. They just had to write the story in such a way that if you go the Old Camp route, your character is ambitious and has designs on Gomez's position.

When you beat the game as an old camper...you get an ending showing you as the ore baron sitting on the throne,a few guards grovelling before you,a goblet of wine in one hand, clothed in rich garments, and one woman fanning you while another one dances seductively in front of you.Or something like that....

The New camp has the standard break out ending

And the swamp camp has a breakout ending, but perhaps its an evil ending, because you need to serve the sleeper to get out.

I have a suspicion that in Gothic 2 your 'nobody' hero will possible turn out to NOT be a nobody in the outside world...

I know they COULD have done multiple paths and endings... but it seemed to me they were somewhat rushed to make the deadline for ONE path and ending.

Some things just aren't meant to be...

I would have loved multiple endings in Gothic.
Deus Ex was a prime example of an elegant solution to the multiple endings problem; Blade Runner, on the other hand, was not.

(I see you're pretty close to revealing what's behnd the mask, EX...)
