Has anyone come across a demo of this or played some beta code ??
The reason I ask, is that I have just read a review of Dungeon Siege and it was awarded 86%........which is very nice.
However, it was very heavily likened to Diablo II.
Now, I enjoyed Diablo II, but IMO it was not an RPG (no debates please....we've had that one).
It appears to be a hack 'n slash....true or false ?
Still its my own fault as I suppose the title does give it away slighly.

From what I understand, you can either have your characters fight via auto combat (like Ultima 7 or Summoner) or you can control one of them with regards to weapon fighting, spell castin etc. I suppose this compares to Diablo II (though not diablo) in that you only have to click on an enemy once and then they battle it out, but I got the impression you can just set the game to have the characters attack the nearest enemy autmotically etc like Ultima 7. The game is definitely not turn-based, but many very good RPGs (some Ultimas, Elder Scrolls etc) have not been turn based. And I suppose with the multiplayer the comparisons to Diablo are inevitable. But I don't think the combat will have the Gaunlet-like swarms and hordes that Diablo does. It also seems to be much, much more of a world that you can explore and many side areas that are not necessary but which you may trail off to. Diablo wasn't a world, but levels with a town or towns.

Anyway, I pre-ordered it from EB (with the cloth map ) so I'll find out soon enough I suppose.

I pre-ordered it as well, but wasn't told anything about a cloth map. I still have my Ultima 4 cloth map around somewhere...

Hey what can I say it's been a while since I got a nice cloth map.

The cloth map is exclusively offered through preordering from Electronics Boutique, http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/categories/products/product.asp?pf_id=182923

Don't know if they are offering it if you pre-order at the store as well, but they are on the web-site. There was another site offering the guidebook free if you pre-order but you can always buy the guidebook later, I'd much rather have the cloth map.
