Sucking Wind

Has anyone heard of another patch to speed the game up...

i have
P4 2.2 with 512 L2 cache
1 gig ram
ati 8500 with 64 mb
win xp with all the bs in the background turned off....

and i still chug several times during the game....into the SINGLE DIGITS!

I bought the game to play and the thought of turning all the extra stuff down (shadows, music, etc) just to play sucks!!!

So please someone lie to me and tell me Beth is hard at work on something that will increase frame rates!!!!

I have the geforce4ti4600.. You still will not be able to play with shadows. But you will with everything else. Still, its crappy when you are in towns.. anywhere else it seems to be fine. Its just the game, all other games are unbelievable with this vid card.

what type of ram? sdram cripples a p4 and still isn't as good aas rdr. dddr is king with the athlon's but the p4 really has proven that it needs the extra bandwidth of the rdr. what is the ambient temperature of your case? p4s will slow down allot (as much as 50%) if they are hot.

Or try FPS Optimizer (ad! ad!), which dynamically adjusts the viewing/AI range to make the fps good everywhere, i.e. closer view range in towns, larger view range in the wilderness.

Here's the thread about it:
