If you like the top-down view and Dwarves with guns in a industrial Victorian setting, then this is the game for you. _________________ Freeeeeeedom! Thank heavens it's summer!

Dungeon Siege, according to most is a Diablo-esque action game with some RPG elements thrown in for kicks. I'm downloading the demo too. I guess I'll review it after I play it. Arcanum was defiantely an RPG. In a way, it's plot resembled a mystery novel more than your traditional hunt down the all-powerful end boss monster and kill it. Although that is how the game, and practically every other game ever made, turns out. _________________ Freeeeeeedom! Thank heavens it's summer!

Yeah, too bad... some of the newer games were not quite like that (if nearly so): Undying, for one thing. A shooter and pretty linear at that in the sense of 'you can't go wrong', it nevertheless had a refreshingly Lovecraftian setting and some very good plot twists. Jeez, I just love to get kicked in the teeth as the unsuspecting player ... _________________ Jaz |

But in Arcanum, you do NOT have to kill the all powerful boss. There's quite another way to win the game (plus, of course, another two options beyond that). _________________ Estuans interius, Ira vehementi

But there was nearly as much killing as in DS . Ok ok, maybe it was just me (I know that "kill all" is not the only possible way (in DS it is only possible way ).

I am looking forward to your review of DS demo. I am interesting in what you will think about it.
Well, I hope you will like it. I am little bit tired to defend it against evil "pure RPGs| players *g*. |

ALL RPGs have an abundance of hacking and slashing. Which is the crux of us 'pure RPGers' arguements and mockery of pure hack and slash games.
There's as much fighting in BG2 as Icewind Dale, but BG2 manages to wrap an excellent story in there as well. Arcanum has a unique feel to it and there is a lot of fighting. But few who played it would classify it as a pure dungeon hack.
Our question to games like Dungeon Siege is 'since you went this far to mask it as an RPG, what would be the difficulty in adding a few dialogue options that matter and making it a real one?' _________________ Estuans interius, Ira vehementi
