Can anyone recommend a good RPG, something like Gothic....I haven't ever played any online RPGs, which would be a good one to start with??

Well, a good MMORPG would be Dark Age of Camelot, I have heard (I haven't got time to play them myself right now).

Good single player RPG would be Wizardry 8 and Baldur's Gate 2 - but you may want to hear different and more opinions

Although Dark Age of Camalot looks good, I don't think I really have the time to get anywhere in it. Planescape looks too much like Baldurs Gate, and I didn't really like BG (I played the 1st one). To be more specific, I'm looking for a good 3rd person view, I think thats what sets RPGs aside from other games. Maybe I'm just too picky, still, if there are any like what I'm describing, then please let me know.

- Wizardy 8 is very good RPG.
- Diablo 2 with Exp. disk is also good (but it is not like Gothic).

- Gorazdul is like BG2 (but it is also good)

- Avalon is also good RPG - you can download first chapter for free and than buy second, than buy third etc. (there are 6 chapter in this moment) - it is good, because you will not spend money on something you do not know.

- Blade of Darkness is not really RPG (but it is similar to Gothic in other ways, it is action game)

- Rune (same as Blade of Darkness)

- Ultima online is maybe old, but good online RPG

If you want a game like Gothic (same general appearance, with character in center of screen) then try Ultima9 or Redguard.
