I actually like the Hero's voice actor better in G2. He seemed as though he wasnt "reading" directly from the script as much as the G1 voice actor.
The use of American accents was a bit strange, but, like others have said, I think it created a fairly unique setting.
I do hope that they tone it down a bit for G3. Some of the northern and southern accents were a bit TOO strong.
Overall, especially considering the limited resources they had to work with, I think they did a very good job. |

I hope you didn't think that I was picking on southerners - I'M originally from Oklahoma myself,  and so didn't mean that at all! What I meant was that it seemed out of place given the reasons already mentioned - that we sort of expect British accents when swords and bows are involved.

ehe i think in G3 they use this time something with arabic accent cos this time we will see alot of sand and desert  |

yeah, right, arabic accents would rule :))
there's already this tobacco guy in G2 who's got a serious south-asian accent.
as for the american dubbing, i guess they just made virtue of necessity. |

Yeah, I knew you weren't taking a jab at southerners. I just wanted to make a general comment about how we are perceived by some and your topic seemed to be a good place to bring it up.

IMO, the voice acting is very good in Gothic 1 and 2. Although I have to say it was mainly the fact that everything is spoken trough the game. For example: In compare to KotOR, the hero has a voice too. No scrolling texts like in Morrowind. And it was voice acting.
Perhaps it wasn't greate enough for a movie, but for a game it was of good quality.
For the American accents: didn't disturb me one bit. I'm used to it from the movies I guess. About the southern - northern difference: An evil character comes over the same to me wheater he has come from Texas or from New York.
Arabic accents: When you play the addon (German voices), you'll get to hear a completely different voice for the tobacco guy. He sounds kinda silly then.
That's about the only voice that is much better in the English version.

First Gothic had really good voice casting... but as far as I'm concerned, the sequel disappointed me severely. For example, a lot of people have the exact same voice as Xardas... same goes for Lester's voice and perhaps some other. It really spoiled my perfect G2 gameplay |

The Seeker's voices MUST be in Gothic 3.
Man, they rule so much...
You're just walking to Khorinis enjoying the music and suddenly you hear 'THERE HE IS!!' in that voice, and you're all like "OMGWTF?!?!?!?!", just awesome!
Also Raoul's voice should be used in Gothic 3, that guy is so funny I duel him only to hear him say 'What?' with that accent. |

I am not picky about the voices. its great to see a game which all of it is voice acted.
But Man We'd be tottally screwed if that guy would be the one who is going to save our wourld.

The guy has the tone of a nobody. i would go that far. he has the voice of a nice guy, a nice fella. i had a dauther i would agree her to go with him. since i would know i could be him up if he does something not for my likeing.

Xardas - a good voice.
I could take it when he was supposed to play the role of the evil mage. priest of behliar . (priest of adanos voice is cool) . i meant he isnt spooky or anything, and he does sound like he is just reading the lines which lay before him.
But when I first heard the dragons , i thought to myself THis STINKS..
They stink. am I supposed to be afraid of them. if you ask me i dont think the voice of that fella has any place in a respected mass production. if you want to hear a good voice. watch pirates of the carribbean there is a sailor their. the half pirate who sails with the british soldiers on the opening sence. now there is a voice worth hearing.
I have wrote it before and shall again. the main hero voice must be more crispy in order to fit the many roles which possibility lies before him. the following actors could acomplish this. Bruce Cambell.
