Mana regeneration mod for Gothic 2- need help |
|
There exist a mana regeneration mod for Gothic 2; http://www.worldofgothic.de/dl/index.php?go=downloads&release_id=112
I cannot get it to work, since I have the english Gothic 2 gold version. Can anyone help me get the mod to work anyway? Is there a trick renaming files, changing .exe files (temperary use german .exe file) or something similar, to make the mod work on the English version?
Cause I think Gothic 2 is unplayable and boring as a mage without mana regeneration, and I want to finish it even 1 more time
Thank for help |

It would do wonders for the enjoyment of playing mage! Lets hope some code genius comes along and explains what to do _________________ The focused mind can pierce through stone |

If you insist on cheating why not enter marvin and max out your mana??? Why you need a mod?? _________________ Chris: Dad, what's the blow-hole for?

Mana regeneration is standard now in many RPG games, and I personally see it as a necessarity. I dont even consider that a cheat, since I see mana regeneration as a essential feature that was missing. I got a little tired of going to find a bed to regenerate mana all the time, since you dont get that many potions
But back to topic. I hope someone knows how I can get this mod, and hopefully other German mods to work on the english edition. I know there are many people who want this feature, if you look at the response at the german version threads |

budweiser10,
I see your point that gradual mana regen (w/o having to sleep) would be a nice feature. It's just that I never had a problem when I played a mage, since there are so many mana herbs to find. By the end of the game I usually had a ton of potions and herbs left that I didn't even need, but carried around anyway.
In the Addon world I even killed two Trolls using just a Fire Arrow rune! Now THAT took a lot of mana potions and herbs, and I still had plenty left. I guess each person's play style can make a big difference in such things. _________________ imposterAZ

You seem to have missed his point. Its not that you can't play without mana regeneration. Its simply unfun that player has to drink dozens of potions after killing few scavengers. Well designed regeneration ability wouldn't even unbalance the game, unlike cheating does. This is one part of the reason why mage has to rely his melee skills so much. Besides drinking manapotions all the time is quite tedious in the long run. More powerfull the mage is, more rapidly his mana should regenerate. _________________ The focused mind can pierce through stone |

I agree this is a great idea.
Besides there is no such thing as cheating in a single player game, the very defention of cheat implies a harm to another, it is not possible.
I too, hope someone famliar with Moding will take a look at this. |

Thanks for the support, I hope somebody find out how to implement this mod, or a similar solution. And if somebody wonder, manaregeneration is confirmed in Gothic 3 as a perk (need to spend LP to learn it). But lets stay on topic and hope somebody can get a solution on Gothic 2, we need it there too |
