Minor laugh-out-loud moment |
|
I'm used to Morrowind surprising me with little bits and pieces that just "ring true", but this one was the best so far... was doing my pilgrimage to the Fields of Kummu when I ran across an escaped slave who begged me to take him to a kindly redguard in the area who was helping slaves.
Well, being the helpful fellow that I am, and trying as I am to become part of the abolitionish movement eventually, I decided to help out and after some searching found the redguard in question--at which point the bastige slave turned out to be a bounty hunter and offered me a chance to run before he took out the redguard.
Not bloody likely! So I clicked on the "attack the bounty hunter" option, at which point the redguard let out a mighty cry of "It's about time I had some *FUN*!" and started whacking the bounty hunter; we sat there and pummeled him between us for some time before the bounty hunter fell over. By this time I already felt some kinship with the redguard, which was only cemented by our joint fight--and so the timing on the "random comment" line was perfect when, our foe vanquished, the redguard turned to me and said "So... where ya from?"
It was a minor thing, but the sequencing of the quest, the timing of the line, and the choice of words just worked out well. Just a minor bit of roleplaying goodness. This game continues to surprise me...

Great story! I know the situation you speak of; I thought it was a really good piece of story that really threw me for a loop. Bethesda has a couple of good writers kicking around that place.
"So where you from?". Priceless!!!!

yea that blasted lizard looked suspicious, i didnt take him to the kindly redguard yet, i stashed him in the pawnshop in balmora (i relived the owner of the pawnshop and everything that wasent nailed down because she like many others looked at me funny.) hmm i wonder what would happen if i just beat him down without taking him to the redguard. |

Great story! I had a similar "random comment" moment. I was doing the quest where you escort the lizard guy from the bar to the bookstore in Vivec. Of course the Dumer there take exception and I'm forced to slaguhter them all.
Well, as the lizard and I are leaving the place, blood still dripping from our weapons after massacring all the patrons of the bar, the bartender pipes up and says, "Tell your friends about this place!"

First of all - great LOL stories! More of those please
I met a guy that was standing up to his waist in water under the bridge from the mainland to the FQ in Vivec. I went up to him to find out what that was all about, it turns out some other guy stole his pants
Hehe, subsequently I tracked down the thief, took back the guys pants, and returned them. He simply thanked me and went out of the water, and I never saw him again |

You don't have to kill the guys while escorting the Argonian across the way, you can simply go outside and talk to the guys about "filthy lizard" and they won't jump him when he comes out. _________________ Make good choices. |

Yes, I did do that, but saved first. Then reloaded, and beat the snot out of them. And guess which one was more fun?
P.S. As I was leaving, the barkeep said only, "What do you want, outlander?". Mayhaps he thought it was a stickup?
PPS. "Reach for the sky, motherstickers! This is a f*ck-up!"
You can blame the parents, or the juevenile justice system. But please, PLEASE, blame the English teachers. _________________ It's a paradox to say that you are lying. Luckily, I can still say that you're lying.

One day, when I have beat the game, I'm going to go on a quest.
This quest shall be to lay waste to any and all living things in the great land of Morrowind. No town shall be safe from the purge. |

You can get hilarious lines when enemies flee. In one of my first dungeons, I was facing a big bad Orc with an enchanted axe with my Level 3 Redguard. I cast Adrenaline Rush, and pulled out my personally enchanted Paralysis-a-majigger. Piece cake. Paralyzed him on strike, then changed to a Stormblade and whacked him some more. The second he recovered from paralysis, he yelled, "I just can't take this abuse any longer!", and ran away like a little girl. First time I had ever seen anyone flee, I didn't know it was possible! Needless to say, I laughed my *ss off.
Upon leaving said dungeon, I was gangbanged by Cliff Racers. 4 of them. And two were stacked upon the others, meaning they could not get to me. So I dispatched them two at a time, but its not every day you see Cliff Racers humping each other! _________________ It's a paradox to say that you are lying.
