Yay! I will see it as soon as possible. Even the hard critic of our own local paper liked it, so then I will love it!

Wow. Now that was awesome!

It's so hard to comment without spoiling anything, but I will say that the major battle of the film is an order of magnitude better than Helm's Deep, the scenery is phenomenal, the acting is superb, there's a good smattering of humour, the evil creatures are very evil, and the land of Mordor is exactly how I'd pictured it.

Viggo plays his part fantastically well - he's going to have to be nominated Best Actor for this.

Aye, the battle was bigger and better than the scenes at Helm's Deep. Those sequences just felt awesome.

Overall good direction with satisfactory ending to the trilogy. Yep, finally the trilogy came to an end. I still remember vividly watching the first film, just felt like it only happened last month.

Oh yeah, you'll see more interesting moves from Legolas during combat. Guess more school girls will get swooned over by him... I remember two years ago reading a forums full of giggling young girls talking about Legolas character, about how good-looking he was, or how cool he was, etc, etc, etc. All those crazy stuff made me laugh so hard while reading them... .

Edited.

Tell me. Did they really cut out the scouring of the Shire? Because if they did...

*shakes fist*

Sorry, it's history. Maybe they'll do something for the extended edition, but I wouldn't hold your breath.

It really doesn't need it, though. I think the theme of "saving the Shire" is well-represented in the rest of the film, and it would be a bit of an anti-climax given the current ending. They have to make cuts in places, and I have to say I'm not too bothered about this one.

According to Jackson the part of Saruman in ROTK will be included in extended DVD version.

I think the left out of Shire scenes was a forgone decision quite long ago. It just confliting with smooth resolution of climax and potentially dragging the ending too long.

The film was extremely well received. At Rotten Tomatoes, the fresh rating is 98%. From 133 reviews, only 3 rotten reviews.

i saw the movie yesterday. i was Fantastic!

the battles were way better htan helms deep. and at the end, with the battle at the gates of mordor and in mt. doom. it was great how they did that, with the perfect musci, and swapping from place to place all the time.

What can I say? Great film. Well worth the wait and well worth the sore arse I had by the end of it.

If all rotten reviews are like this, then we might as well consider the movie to have no rotten reviews at all. Assuming, of course, we consider the text I linked to a true review, and not merely the brain fart of an author looking for recognition by merely trying to "swim against the current."

There will be no Scouring of The Shire, even in the Extended Edition (reminds me of Bombadil) . Peter Jackson didn't like that part and never shot it.

I loved the movie, but I was hoping that the Witch King would be more intimidating. I have a couple of other gripes, but overall this one pwns The Two Towers.

Ok, now that I've calmed down and am breathing normally. My favourite scene had to be when Pippin is singing to Denethor as Faramir charged Osgiliath, and then at the end showing the blood dribbling down Denethor's mouth. I found that scene particularly poignant portraying Denethor's character very effectively.
