It sold quite well in the U.K. (or so I'm told), and I'm pretty sure it's doing well here in the U.S. I sure hope Gothic 3 will be translated worldwide.

Who told you it sold well in the UK? From watching the charts I had the impression sales were a complete desaster.

I don't remember exactly who told me, but I got the impression that it sold well. I guess I was mistaken.

Sales in Aus

Unfortunately, despite Gothic I sales being so good down here, Australia only saw Gothic II on the shelves for a couple of months before it simply disappeared for good, assumingly because of bad sales. I wasn't expecting this, and missed it, so I'm importing it. EBGames are probably going as fast as they can, but dammit, a rabid fan can only wait so long...

You mean Atari no longer sells it in Australia?

Well, to that I couldn't give you a definite yes, as the game is still listed on Atari's Aus site, but I'm reasonably sure. All I know is that I haven't seen it in a store since about a month ago, and it disappeared from all Australian online sites at roughly the same time. I guess it's possible it was simply a choice coincidently made by all these stores at the same time, but nevertheless, things point to sales being bad. I really think marketing is to blame, as I honestly had no idea the game had been released down here until it was too late, and I'm a big fan of the first game, which did sell well. It's a shame really.

Yes, itīs a shame. Butīs itīs not a surprise. Atari made a stealth release in AU and all over Europe. They so didnīt invest any effort in marketing that even a big (and good) site like Eurogamer made a joke about that one enthusiastic phone call by their Atari contact they received.
Sales are probably rather low. Average sales price and availability will still be a lot better than G1 under Xiacat. Except in AU, of course. Afaik Xicat sold most units for budget price.

Don't know...I have never seen the game at the Walmart or Target near me in Houston. Sales can't be very good if it's not marketed and barely on the shelves. I better go buy the thing before it disappears.

Hmm, so the sales are pretty bad? Could that mean it's rather unlikely for Atari to release the add-on in english?

Weīre speculating that the sales are pretty bad. Exact numbers arenīt disclosed, of course.

Why wouldnīt Atari release a finished product? This would be illogical.

I bought G2 it yesterday. I went to 6 stores before I found it....6 stores! Walmart, Target, Best Buy, CompUSA, GameStop#1 and finally GameStop #2. For those Non-americans, these are all places that should have it.

They should, but they didn't. I guess they didn't think it would sell well. Funny, there aren't nearly as many places to buy games around where I live, but the only place that should have it that doesn't is K-mart. Wal-Mart and Sam Goody both have copies. Go figure.
