Solar System Studios Announces Ancient World Online

A new MMO entitled Ancient World Online (official site forthcoming) is in the works at Solar System Studios.
(PRWEB) March 19, 2006 -- Six months back Solar System Studios started the ongoing development of the project “AWO” or Ancient World Online. Since then it has been under wraps from the public and the media, until now. AWO’s Lead Producer Mr Jake Winsworth has been hard at work with a small team of pre production developers to start off this huge project. The lead game designer and the brains behind the projects life and ideas Mr James Allsopp has quoted “Ancient World Online is something I’ve looked at, creating a mmo is left to the professionals and I myself have striven to create a Persistent world of fantasy gaming which all types of gamers can enjoy”

Ancient World Online promises features not only daring and dangerous but crazy and effective. The game is set in the world of “Anavon” allowing players to explore not just a few contents but a Whole World. Players will be able to travel 50km across Anavon’s lushes terrain. The AWO developers promise features such as in-depth world lore and new secrets to be uncovered from past civilizations.

Its not just the immense size of the project that grabs the players attention. Ancient World Online is packed with a whole new walk of game play. Some features will include;

1. A persistent world which changes due to the players actions.
2. Vast amounts of Villages/Towns & Cities to explore.
3. In depth questing system, not only does it change from time to time, it also teaches the players the history of “Anavon”
4. RTS & RPG merging together to allow players to take on two sides of the game, build a fortress & explore and adventure across Anavon

The project uses the middle were MMO engine Multiverse technology and DirectX9 & 10 support with shaders.

Currently Ancient World Online is early stages and what the game designers quote is usually something of imagination not reality, but from what AWO promises is something to look forward to and something that could create a whole new MMO community in this ongoing technology and advancement of Online Games.
Check out the official FAQ and feature list for additional details.

Girl, please.

This game, and the million before it, are insanely over-hyped and covered by the media as soon as a guy in a cubicle in Fargo gets an idea.

999,999 of those games never see the light of day. The other 1 builds up so many expectations from the day it is announced until, 6 years later, it is released that it is destined to disappoint.

I am jaded you say? Nah.

I think Mr. Kepler is right - quite true what he says. Plus have a look at the features... bit of a rat catcher thing. Players can change the world, in depth questing system, RTS + RPG... I'll believe it when I'm playing it. The mmo path is kinda paved with broken promises when it comes to new and innovative features. And I think you should be very careful about the whole RPG + RTS thing - in the end you might scare of both kind of players...
