I agree, before my big upgrades fighting was very hard, because the game lagged so much by the time my character did what i wanted to target would have moved!

Okay...I really don't mean to be rude, but enough with the personal opinions about the game...because I'm sure everybody loves it...

But can anybody fill me in on the MINIMUM requirements, RAM and graphic card wise...for BOTH games? G1 & G2.

And if it's possible, can someone let me know how much these things cost? Because I know RAM is expensive.

Will either game run on 256RAM?

Someone help me out here.

Gothic 1: 450MHz processor, 128MB RAM (i think) and a 32MB Graphics card.
Gothic 2: 800MHz processor, P3 or equivalent, 256MB RAM, 32MB GeForce 2 graphics card (Don't think it'll go v. well on the MX200/400 kind tho)

My PC has 128RAM and the game still freezes up as if I don't have enough.

I have tried just about everything. The only thing I haven't done yet is upgrade the RAM to 256 because I don't know how much it costs.

But the sound card is never the problem.
And my processor is Pentium 4 1.5 GHz

So does anybody think it'll run just as good with 256RAM with the stuff I have on it now?

Someone let me know.

You didnīt say what graphics card you have.
Both games need twice the minimum requirements to have fun. With less you have to turn down some details and/or can count every single frame.

Well, I'm working no buying a new PC anyway with 512RAM and possibly a GeForce 3 or 4 card.

Would that combo work?

What type of sound card would I need?

I can't beleve I'm changing my whole computer gaming experience just for ONE game.

Well yes, this combo will work. And who doesn't upgrade their computers for a certain game? My last intentional upgrade was caused by the final level of Emperor's Atreides campaign. So don't worry, that's pretty normal .

Will 512 RAM work on Gothis two?

Oh, and I don't mean to nag...but are there any other things needed to play? Or do I only need a Geforce 3/4 sound card and a lot of RAM?

Practically 512MB are minimum for Gothic 2. Enough to avoid lag in almost all areas.
The game is CPU-limited. Without a fast CPU you have to make compromises. The whole thing is scaled to the fastest available system. If you have a balanced 3 GHz system you can play @1600*1200 with all details. If you have less you can choose between less resolution/details and less frames per second.

I honestly never thought I'd be going to these lengths for a damn game. *sigh*

Well, the most I can do is get a system that's 512 RAM, 2.0 GHz, and go from place to lpace to look for a cheap Geforce 3/4 sound card.

By the way, what type of video card do I need?

Someone fill me in, if they haven't already...

That should be the last piece of the puzzle for me...that is unless I find some other kind of complication.

You need a DirectX7 compatible 32MB video card with hardware T&L to run the game with full details. You should buy a GeForce4 Ti 4200 to get full details and adequate performance.

Why are you making this so complicated? Download the demo and try it.
Btw., 2 GHz is entry level nowadays, so you shouldnīt be surprised games start to ask for so much power to get a decent playing experience.

Man my computer SUCKS. 1Ghz, 386 ram, and 64 mb GeForce 2. I'm getting the impression that G2 won't work. This computer is hardly a yeaar old. I wish you could just trade em in.

<------------will end up playing G2 with 800 x 600 red (SIGH)

hey primetime. why do you keep saying the geforce is a soundcard? its a graphics card. anyways do what gorath said and try the demo. thats the only way you can truly see. but the full version is supposed to run slower in the city areas in the fullversion as there is alot more npcs. and thats why you need a fast processor
