Are you talking about video/computer games, board games, card games, children's games... and do you mean 'horrible' as in 'bad' or more along the line of 'scary'?
Restricting myself to computer and video games now, I'd say the worst game I ever played was a masterful combination of bad game design, ugly graphics, poor animation, ridiculous story and a generous sprinkling of bugs. The game was aptly called 'Angst', was from the nineties and had no saving grace whatsoever.
The scariest game for me was none of the classical horror games (like Phantasmagoria, Alone in the Dark, Resident Evil or Silent Hill) but Thief 1. _________________ Jaz |

I always have trouble with questions like "worst game". Mostly because I tend not to finish the really bad ones and don't like to clutter up my limited memory space with bad memories *grin* I also like to read a review or two before I play ... that helps me avoid the real clunkers.
I am sure I am forgetting a big one here, but:
Might and Magic IX - I had such high hopes for this game. I'd been waiting for months and months for it to come out. I tried soooo very hard to like it. But the end of if just reinforced my initial opinion ... it was released way too soon. It was just sloppy. Not really a 'bad' game, but my personal biggest dissapointment.
Pool of Radaince - I never played it, but from Xen's reaction (and I trust his opinion on these things) this has got to be the amoung the worst games made to date.
I don't recall the name but it was an adventure game ... I think a hero or kings quest game ... to solve a particular puzzle was, essentially, impossible for those of us that have lives outside the game. I worked it out once and the amount of time to discover the sol'n based on random chance (the only possible route since there were no clues offered in the game play preceding the puzzle) is a little over 1.5 hours ... and that is only if you aren't a fast clicker. If you clicked too fast the puzzle was unsolvable with out a web search. I destroyed the game ... literally. First I smashed, then I ripped and I finished with burning. _________________ =Member of The Nonflamers' Guild=

I never finished playing 'Angst', either. A neat little bug prevented me from finishing even the first level... but even this one level made for the worst computer/gaming experience in my life. _________________ Jaz |

I think Lionheart is the worst game I've played in recent years. It just didn't do anything right. _________________ If soot stains your tunic, dye it black. This is vengeance.

The worst game I ever played was Streets of Sim City. You had a car, you armed the car with litlle cash you had and you had too destroy enemy cars which were numbered in hundrets. /much less then hundred but with your car it seemed like hundrets. It really ruined my will too play games then. _________________

I never rate a game by its graphics or sound, my concerns are interaction with NPC’s (I’m assuming here we are talking about CRPGs), story progression and combat.
Lionheart - big disappointment
PoR – good idea gone wrong
But the cake takes Another War, that was the worst combat I’ve ever see, it was so bad that no mater how good story and humorous situations were, you just couldn’t play it and don’t start me with balancing issues. _________________ Money - An article which may be used as a universal passport to everywhere except heaven, and as a universal provider of everything except happiness. |

Betrayal at Krondor - Urhg... bad combat and too much text. No roleplaying.
System Shock - This was made after Doom?
Wastelands - Ermh... story... please. Horrible combat.
Darklands - No story.
Arx Fatalis - Worst. Dialogue. Ever.
Deus Ex 2 - A disgrace. |
