I have actually played both tactics and zenogears(though I didnt finish zenogears too damn long). My opinion of tactics was I loved it!! It was one of my favorite games of all time but the problem was all other tactical RPGs on console are exactly like tactics but MUCH WORSE. Zenogears was good but still fell into the console rpg formula with the giant robot thing in there for a bit of a twist, though was a good game.
My big thing is redundentsy in. It is bad for any genre. That is why I tend to stray away from consoles becouse they often end up being all about money and very rarily make the risk to opt for originality. That is what makes a genre stagnate in terms of advancement of the genre. A good example of this is what Half Life did to the first person shooter genre. That is what keeps me playing computer games, the constant flow of new ideas(though there is still alot of polishing of base design structure). This is what makes computer RPGs continually fun to play becouse almost every RPG made by a different design team offers near to a completely different experiance. _________________ "It is impossible to better oneself without knowing ones weaknesses" |

I don't have anything against consoles, though I admit the PC has better CRPGs, at least in English.
It really does make a difference playing Japanese CRPGs in Japanese! The language is so evocative, and there are differences in tone that are basically impossible to get across in written English. |

Wow! Talk about getting off topic!
Listen, in answer to your original question, if Graphics is your thing I don't think anyone would argue that Morrowind is the winner here. Then you say that you can't be "encumbered" by battlenet access. Erm... does that mean that you don'T really care about multi-player? Morrowind again. "Limited character development options"? Not sure if you mean you want "simple" character development, or complexe ones. If it's complex char development you crave, Morrowind or NWN are your games.
Now, I haven't played WCII at all, but that's a totally different type of game. If you want a Roleplaying game and don't care for multi-player, then buy Morrowind. _________________ =Proud Father of a new gamer GIRL!=
