Gothic 3 in Q4/2005 - Jowood expects loss in 2004

Jowood announced a targeted release date for Gothic 3, which is now scheduled for Q4 of 2005. However, it is Piranha Bytes who develop it so this is yet to be confirmed by PB as you can see from Jowood's infamous announcement of the second Gothic 2 addon, which then never happenend (still no official statement about this embarassing affair - it looks like Jowood announced it without contacting PB first, who refused to spend more time in G2, but wanted to concentrate on G3).<BR>In related news, Jowood expects to miss its targeted sales figures of 22-25 million EUR, but 'only' 21 million EUR, due to weak sales figures in Q4/2004. Let's hope the Austrian publisher is not getting into trouble again as they did 2 or 3 years ago...

Had they released an English version of the addon, they would have had a lot more sales.

Let's hope Gothic 3 is a simultaneous release. Out of sight quickly becomes out of mind and it hurts sales in North America when European publishers don't get them out here quickly. Soemthing JoWood has ignored to its own detriment before. let's see if they've learned this time around.

Yeah our local publisher Jowood has to get better business partners in America to publish their games, thats for sure. But what I think its REALLY great about Jowood is that it doesn't try to force game developers to finish the game in a certain time, and don't interfere in the creation of games. They give the developers the freedom they need. Just imagine Gothic being published by, for example, Electronic Arts! The same would happen to it as happend to Ultima. Such companies are the death of creative and complex RPGs. Jowood may have its flaws, but it has the right attitude there.

And before Uocjat needs another 2 years at the forum to find it out ... JoWooD also was not involved in Gothic´s development.
