ah the pop up still comes but luckely the inscreen ad doesn't come every 5 clicks anymore
In the beginning I got interested and really wanted to found someone with an xbox and fable to try it. Now I never going to touch the game. _________________ Want to become a vampire? a warrior in the battle between vampires and werewolves?

Im using mozilla firefox and this blocks ads automatically. even now i got a message (almost unnoticable) saying: Firefox prevented this site from opening a popup window. Click here for options... _________________ I really, really tried to figure out something clever here like "Life is a waterfall" and artistic stuff like that but no! @mazu
I somehow doubt that is the Fable Ad ... I think your firefox blocks the regular RPGDot Advertisment popup now. _________________

It doesn't really matter, since in my world a good pop-up is a blocked pop-up. _________________

Why don't you just put the ads on the same screen, such as the "Doungeon Lords" Advertisement and the "Gamers Online", also the planetarion game before, i think those are better, also a pop-up every 15 pages is good, they won't do taht harm, will they? That is you must have ads. _________________

To my immense dismay, my son has pronounced Fable as good game ... he is now spending his time equally split between Fable and Halo 2.
So, despite the tasteless bombardment I guess there is something to recommend the game. _________________ =Member of The Nonflamers' Guild=

Fable is a wonderful game IMO, just far too short. _________________ Jaz |

That was the impression I got from Nick. After the game was 'over' he continuted to play for awhile ... just for the fun of it. Then he started over with the intention of being 100% evil. Since it only took him a weekend to finish the first time, I should check with him to see how try 2 is going. _________________ =Member of The Nonflamers' Guild=

Fable was a disaster. It could have been a good game if they stuck at all to the original design. As it is you'd need to be on bad crack or utterly starved of entertainment to think it is wonderful. It's an awful adventure on rails. Even folks who worked with the game early on could see it going downhill. Waste of money. _________________ “Everyone’s a girl when they’re face down.” |

The funny thing is, it's just driving away viewers to the site and viewers to the game itself. I mean, no one appreciates being annoyed. So while the first time it happens someone might think "hey, cool a new game I don't know about". The 30th time it happens they are thinking "I'd never buy that game if they came and paid ME to take it!".
And this also makes RPGdot's reputation weaker, because the users feel as though they're just trying to push ads onto us rather than have a service. I realize they need to make ad money to keep the site up, but they shouldn't be doing it by making the site a hassle to read, we'll just go read somewhere else.
Pop-Up Ads are yesterday's advertisement method. They don't work. What works now are text-based ads that are scattered within the actual content and are unobtrusive. Google realizes this and they are making a fortune with those "ads by Google" things.
BTW, get Firefox, do not install a flash plug in, and use the Adblock addon. No more popups, very little ads on ANY sites. I still read the text ads though. Those do not try to annoy me to get my attention . _________________ Visit Knight Games! |

In exchange for extra add space on the front page, pop-ups are now gone from RPGDot.
There is still a change for an occasional 'eyeblaster' when somebody is willing to pay enough for them, but they should be an exception. Then again I don't know what an 'eyeblaster' is exactly..... _________________ Kewl quotes:

Sounds like a perfect description of the Fable ad. In your face and thoroughly annoying... _________________ IMHO my opinion is humble |

I agree Danny. I've had my blocker off for weeks now and not one ad from here to annoy me. Good plan for now guys. _________________ =Member of the Nonflamers Guild=
