Yes, in Gothic 1 there are several quests that will hang around in your notebook as incomplete, and that is normal. In Gothic 2 they did a better job (but not a perfect one) of cleaning quests from your notebook once decisions in the game make them impossible to complete. _________________ imposterAZ

To me that stinks. But I suppose it might have changed the story if you had the opportunity to tell the truth. But they should have shown this quest complete, not failed or incomplete (can't remember). If the program is going to decide, then complete it, not fail it. _________________ Just watch out you don't stress yourself out.
