Magicka? Where do you get it?

Is is just me or is there an unbalance when it comes to getting magicka. One doesn't get it when resting as the manual says. The only way I have been able to get is by paying for an extremely overprice potion in Balmora. What am I doing wrong? How is a mage to survive without magicka?

You must have chose the sign that gives you a huge bonus magicka. The only problem is, the sign also makes it so you cannot regenerate magicka.

If you picked The Atronach. That's you problem. It gives you the ability to absorb Magika from things casted at you, but you can't regenerate with out the asistance of a potion or by absorbing Magika that is used on you.

I had to start over using a different Birthsign. The Atronach probably is good to have later in the game but leveling up to make it useful is almost impossible.
