Gothic 2 - not before May 2nd (and maybe later)

One of our visitors has sent us a mail from Amazon.co.uk, in which they state that Amazon has contacted JoWooD about Gothic 2 and the release date was said to be May 2nd, possibly later. Here's the important part:

Regarding your order for "Gothic 2 ", I wanted to give you an update on the status of this item.

We have contacted the manufacturer, and they have informed us that the release date of this game has been delayed. They now expect it to be released on 2 May, 2003, however please know this may be subject to further delays.
Well, not to say that Gothic 2 will be outdated when it is released, not at all, but hey, JoWooD KNOW how to blow a release, don't they?

Very slowly, but surely, loosening its grip on my "possible buys" ladder...

If they keep doing this, they will beat even Blizzard with the delay of Diablo2.

To make things even more complicated ...

I received the translation of an article from a Benelux print mag. The April issue includes reviews of at least 3 JoWooD games (G2, AN2, Europa 1400 - The Guild).
Gothic II got 83% plus a very positive review. The given release date is: March.

Some of the biggest US retailers say mid April.

So it seems JoWooD spread different release dates.

Another possibility: "gold": late March, US street date: mid April, UK: two weeks later.

Now that I think about it ... JoWooDs´ speciality is stealth release on the very day the direct, heavily advertised, competition hits the shelves. When are Lionheart and Star Wars Galaxies due?

The game will be as good if released on May 2nd, or April 2nd, August 2nd.

The game is going to be the same, it's what else is going to be out there at the time. If it's June, and I'm playing F-zero, Outlaw Volleyball, and other stuff (which are actually a little higher on my list... though I love RPG's)... Gothic II may not have room on my buy list. Whereas if it came out sooner, there's nothing really coming out now except Zelda that I'm looking forward to.

I have a bid on 2005, is there any advance on 2005? Come on someone, why not try to compete with Grimoire, do I hear 2006 from anyone? Anyone? No, oh well then, sold to the man for 2005!!

Guess I'll be getting something else and Gothic 2 gets to wait till it's bargin-bin priced.

JoWood is really messing this up. Not only do they delay the game till who knows when but I haven't seen any English advertisements for the game beyond this fansite. Zip. Zero. Nada. The only English article in a publication that I've seen on it was in CGW last year. Will new prospective buyers remember that article? Not likely. I picked up PC Gamer yesterday. They had an article previewing 181 new games coming out. Was Gothic 2 listed anywhere in this massive article? Nope. Not even an honorable mention.
Way to go JoWood. Is it any wonder you guys are in dire straits?

Thats the way to! I personally don't care g2 so much anymore.I probably end up buying it when it's bargin-bin priced. If this is the way customers outside germany are treated, perhaps we should find out something else to play.I wouldn't whine if they would still work with g2, but hey _german_ version was released allready something like 2 months ago
