There was a talk that “Jefferson” suppose to be BG3, but hit "hold" stage indefinitely due to license rights. Of course where EB is involved I don’t pay too much attention anyway, if you look hard enough you could “buy” all cancelled games - even Torn. _________________ Money - An article which may be used as a universal passport to everywhere except heaven, and as a universal provider of everything except happiness. |

Definitely black Isle studios was working on baldurs gate 3. Vivendi is black isles distribution partner.
Theyre unable to compete with TOEE directly so the project will be put on hold for a while.
No end to Baldurs gate series. I would bet any amount of money that there will be a baldurs gate 3. When I couldnt say or by who, but Im sure there will be. |

The Temple of Elemental Evil. It is a new D&D game being created, though I don’t remember by who. |

TTOE is being developed by Trokia(makers of arcanum).
Anyway, I think that that it'll be a great game and even though I really didn't enjoy BG2 as much as most people did, i'm still hoping for a sequel. |

I think it's likely Jefferson was BG3. I also think it's a long chance to see the light of day. It's not because it "can't compete" with ToEE, but rather as Seth mentioned they've probably lost the license.
BIS have moved the Jefferson team to Van Buren (probably FO3) and switching projects isn't something that is done lightly. Since Jefferson isn't finished, if BIS had reasonable expectations of recovering the license I think they would have continued to work on Jefferson to have it ready for when the license was recovered. To me, moving the team to another project before finishing Jefferson indicates it's too long a shot to spend more time on at this point.
Interplay have posted in their forums that the EB listing is erroneous and will be removed. |

One thing puzzles me about this BG3 speculation. BG was NEVER really a BIS game. It was a Bioware game, published by Interplay. BIS used the BG engine for several of their own games, but did not develop the BG series. Surely if anyone was going to continue the BG series then, it should be Bioware!! _________________ If God said it, then that settles it!

If Jefferson indeed was BG3, i am not very impress by its graphics as shown by Josh's deliberately leaked wallpaper (I know, it's not all about graphics). Beside, the Bhaal child story pretty much ended with its last expansion.
If BIS/Interplay lost the BG license, then who has it now... |

Well the story about the Bhall Spawn trying to fulfil his destiny ended. But a story of a new God began. You could fight with other Gods or something like that ( Black & White ) |

Uh, BIS didn't loose the 'BG license'. They lost the 'WotC ADnD licence'. _________________ Like some bold seer in a trance;

No they didnt lose the D and D license completely. The still make baldurs gate dark alliance for consoles. Just not for PC games.
Ok they didnt make baldurs gate 1 or 2, but they made both expansions for them. So, black isle studios released a lot more IE games than Bioware did. Its all confusing as hell. But they made IWD 1,2 PST, and 4 IE engine games expansions vs bioware made BG 1 and 2. Maybe Bioware will be the one that makes Baldurs gate 3 now. Someone will because theres a lot of money to be made.
And for what it matters, in my opinion at the time the fallout engine which they did write was a lot better than the IE engine. The IE engine just had nicer background pictures. But that doesnt matter today.
They have the license to make Baldurs gate for consoles. Either they or Atari decided not to renew the license for baldurs gate PC games why is just speculation on our part. I said because they are not allowed to compete with TOEE, but it could be they feel its not worth it to compete with them.
Heh enough gossip for now. |

I heard that there was a Baldur's Gate 3 banner at the Interplay/Black Isle booth at the E³ this year.
Can anyone confirm this? |
