hi everybody
Let me begin by saying that Gothic I and II are among the best games I have ever played on PC!! I adore both titles and have spent huge amounts of time on them. The atmosphere in these games is unbeaten (and so are the controls btw. don't change that at any cost).
Now my question concerns the addon (and maybe it has been answered already) but how much playtime will the addon bring us?
That's all. I hope you Piranas get all the merits and the success you honestly deserve for creating such great games. AND KEEP MAKING MORE!

February 2002 : I download the demo of Gothic 1. Wow, I've got to have this game. Bought it in march.
Since then, I 've been playing Gothic over and over. Until the German demo (with English subtitles) was released that is.
June 12th Bought Gothic 2. I 've played it two times: mage and dragon hunter. Now I will finish as Paladin.
I wouldn't say this game is my life, but it comes close to it. I love the fact that you can play those games over and over.
Only one question : Will we see Saturas in the Add-on? I didn't understand that letter of him on Iddorath. _________________ Moderator and Council Magician of the RPGDot Shadows

I wonder if you in PB have any internal name of the hero, it should be strange if you called him 'The Hero' all the time.

That’s a great idea! You guys can create a spell scroll to summon Mud and bug someone to death… _________________ "That one hurt..."

I hope Gothic 2 sells well so you guys can command more clout when working out a publishing deal for the foreign language add-on and Gothic 3. I ordered Gothic 2 from the UK because I could not bring myself to wait until Atari get off their asses and get the game published (probably unchanged from the UK version despite what they say) in the US.
Anyway, how does it feel to be part of a group that is recognized as the supreme rpg game making company of the universe? Do other developers prostrate themselves before you in supplication? Do you pity other developers for their feeble attempts to produce games that can match the Gothic series, or do you believe that anyone with the will to be the best can achieve some semblance of what you have wrought with the Gothic series? |

Ok, I have another question (Oh, I've never picked a dev's brain before )
Sub games, everybody loves sub games. Are there any planned for the addon or Gothic 3? Personally I would like a casino or something like that where you could gameble (strangely enough ) or authority figures could send you there to sort out card counters . Perhaps Sheep racing or something _________________

How ‘bout meatbug races? Throw them into a pit and the first one that crawls out wins. And if you keep loosing you can summon Mud to squish all your opponents bugs before they make it to the top…Now that I would pay to see… _________________ "That one hurt..."

@corwin: (... who stated that our distribution partners don't exactly help us to become internationally successful)
that's exactly how i feel about that matter. i would love to see gothic II ads in your local game magazines, or at least find the game in stores all around the globe (almost). maybe next time...
-----------------------------------
@DaDoom: (... who wants to know how many extra hous of playtime "the night of the raven" adds to the original game)
it depends. you can either rush through the addon in less then 20 hours, or you can spend loooads of time in the previously undiscovered land. the mere lenght of new dialogue comes to about 4 or 5 hours. (i ask myself why the heck it took one and a half week to record them )
-----------------------------------
@Bartacus: (... who expects some clarification on saturas' letter in the addon)
the water mages stage a comeback in the addon. whether or not saturas is among them remains to be seen...!
-----------------------------------
@NicoDe: (... who thoughtlessly gave away one of the best-guarded secrets of all time: our hero's internal name)
hi. nice of you to show up.
-----------------------------------
@Ragnar: (... who came up with a great idea)
great idea!
-----------------------------------
@Locoman: (... who is curious about how it feels to be the universe's supreme game developer)
"we are still... only human." - hehe, i'm really into quoting matrix reloaded whenever it makes somewhat of a sense. my friends hate me for that and keep pretending that i'm not the one. poor minds.
actually, we're not as special as you describe. as long as we have to blame ourselves for a billion things that went incredibly wrong, we cannot seriously celebrate ourselves for the handfull of things that turned out quite alright. we're just a bunch of socially inacceptable weirdos. at least that's what my psychatrist keeps saying.
it feels great though to be contacted by other developers and asked for support or advice. that happened once, but i'm trying hard to present it as if it happens permanently . of course we enjoyed sharing our experience with him... (eeh, them!), rather than making a big secret out of our achievements.
-----------------------------------
@Shmaugus: (... who assumes parts of the addon take place behind the orc wall)
the orc wall dosn't have anything to do with the addon, apart from the fact that it is still there
-----------------------------------
@IronMan/Ragnar: (... who wish for sub games)
you can take screenshots, print them out as b/w-images, and then colour them with your watercolours. _________________ "just two more minutes!"

Here: (.......) were all the congratulations and stuff about Gothic series that you and all who ever played them Knows, ....keep moving, now what I think, as I said the first time I came in here and see that the developers actually read and answer all stuff about a game really amazed me, you really rock, actually I'm a programmer too, so it was more easy to understand the SDK to G1, I spend Thousand and thousand hours playing, making mods, swords, or add new quests to Gothic1, So I keep playing it endlessly, for example the last thing I did, was a mega difficult quest to find the armor of a dead dragon hunter, but well enough of that, here are my questions/critics about Gothic2:
1: why did you change some places or make 'em inaccessible from the colony???? I "CAN" understand that you had to change some things to put the dragons, (a monster TOO easy to defeat and ugly to battle, beside the fire Effect), But I do not find a justification to the loss of the Orc Graveyard, or for example the place were you meet Diego and have to fight a troll to get a focus, the new mine...etc, I only think that if you would make exactly the same map, but with some (SOME) changes to it (like what you did with the old camp for example) the game to us (G1 players) would be a Great TEN!!!, now is an 8 for me I just think that in 13 days the colony can not change that much, besides they would add More hours of game play, just to look at them, not a single quest, just to be there, and find a lot of people dead or fight orcs, BEAUTIFULL, or the sect camp??.... you get the point.
2: Beside that, I think is marvelous, I like the engine, and I like the fact that you did not change the look and feel of the game, Only add things, but remember not to delete things the next time, I remember that the colony was really big, with a lot of people, so if they do not die, they HAVE to be there, somewhere, they can say, i.e. "I manage to escape, I’m alive, and I’m free thanks to YOU " but to disappear??, can not find an answer to that, jet maybe some people who play gothic make like an ally/friend of the NPCs, jeje I'm one of them....
3: I Miss thorus, why was he deleted from the final G2, I know he is like a test npc in G2, you can Insert, what was he doing in G2 before you decide not to put him in???
4: thanks for the time you spend reading and trying to understand what I’m writing, remember I'm from Argentina (not really happy here) so my English is as good as it is , thank you very much, and .... give my regards to NICO !!! _________________ Nobady's Perfect, . . . . Me Two
