Now, now, no need to be brutal about it.

I would have loved to finish my online game (I've had a few e-mails asking about it over the past year) but a certain woman came into the picture and starting changing things around (not just in my online gaming groups, naturally) and making demands of me and utterly killed my love of writing before things ended between us. Which is a sad thing indeed as nobody else in my life has ever managed to kill my love of writing.

I haven't even used ICQ in months my enjoyment of online being that killed. RPGDot and the official forum for whatever game I'm currently playing (sometimes) is about it... and usually just from the office.

What Roqua is saying is wrong, of course (no offense Roq) - especially anything even remotely related to violence (though in matters of self-defense my code of chivalry would end at a threat to my health.) but what he's saying likely strikes a chord in any guy who's ever been trampled by a woman and felt powerless to do anything about it. It's probably what little animal instinct remains asserting itself.

But we're not animals. Suck it up or leave. Once you acknowledge that you may be alone for the rest of your life and get over your fear of it you'll find yourself feeling less confused by things.

@Xen: That sucks. We should have sent the emergancy squad to go jump on her legs a few times.
But it's a testament to your DMing and writing ability that people found the experience of that PnP group memorable.

I think I'll stick with the Mormon girls... and Val, if you ever find an internet PnP group again, or start one again, could you guys count me in? im a great player! all i would have to buy is the players handbook that way... im not very good at DMing, im afraid. but im a great player, and i could play any day or night, for as long as the campaign lasts. i love campaigns. especially with a good DM. i dont know what programs to use though.

Xen: maybe you should try to DM again? you still possess the talent within you, surely. im sorry to hear about ur woman taking away ur motivations, but maybe finding someone as passionate (about PnP gaming, that is) as you used to be (like myself as a player), it would re-spark that old feeling and get you creating again. who knows. but i also know that artists (no matter if its painting or writing) go in cycles of activity and inactivity, so maybe that might be it. so im just saying, i would be a dedicated PnP player if you ever feel like playing over the internet again. i really get into the game.

Im not afraid of being alone, in fact i dont really mind. Im not good with people anyway... the only woman i really talk to is my psychiatrist, and she is kinda not exactly my age-group, LOL. Besides, i have strange beliefs and one of them is that i will still find a mate in the afterlife and beyond. Come to think of it, with everything ive been through, im not afraid of anything. i still try to find a scary movie that actually scares me. its not working... too many stupid movies that arent remotely haunting. someone should take what Lovecraft wrote and convert it correctly to movie format, that might work!

You should see "Dude where's my car?" That really freaked me out.
You'll find someone Ammon. If I can, then anyone can. Have faith in yourself, and don't look for her. She's probably already out there looking for you.

Ah, nobody deserves to have their legs jumped up and down on. Perhaps a little but you live and learn. I am quicker to spot control freaks and more willing to stand up for myself now (nothing like feeling utterly helpless to spark a fire that burned away 25 years of 'do everything a woman tells you and you'll be happy' brainwashing) so it's not all bad.

Except for the feeling that something is missing that will likely gnaw at me until I die, unloved and alone. I could do without that.

I know I don't need to tell you this, but hang in there. When you least expect it ...

After my divorce from a control freak I felt the same way. I was not really ready for to get back into the relationship game right away (funny how people don't believe you when you say that).

I figured I'd meet the woman of my dreams in the grocery store one day ... I pictured myself dropping a can of garbanzo beans (chick peas) on her toes. What actually happened was that my sister brought her by when I was very sick. Of course, being over 40, time passes much more quickly so the 2 years between deciding a relationship might not be such a bad idea and actuality passed pretty quickly.

Oddly enough, she did not want to come to my flat empty handed and so brought a bag of dried peas *shrug* Close enough to chick peas for me!!

Did she drop them on your toes?

You mean the arrow in your heart had already made you see her?

(Goddamn I'm romantic these days!)

Yeah.

Something like that anyway. I was smitten pretty hard!

I recall thinking "There is no way my sister could've brought such a cool woman over to see me ... her friends are all either ugly or complete ditz's ... there must be something I am missing".

So I called her up and asked out to dinner to see if there was anything I was missing. Over four years later and I am still looking!!!

Ha! You almost had me fooled there, but now I see clear again! Admit it Lintra, you're just a sad git sitting at home in your mothers house with whom you live, pretending to be a fancy guy living in Bermuda with the perfect woman! Ha, I say! HA! Now I'm on to you, and you can't hide behind your lies anymore! HA!

Yep, you've caught me.

Just a poor loser living in a run down tenament, having to stop typing on a regular basis to stop the rats from chewing through my powercord. Yep. Had to give up smoking or beer ... so thats why I only smoke the stumps that other people discard. Most of you go to the corner store to buy butts, not me. I go to the corner ashtray where all the men in grey suits hang out and puff between making phone calls.

Of course, if that is case, then you are the homeless guy across the street from me. I guess you must break into my neighbors place to use his PC. Think he might be dead though. Haven't seen him in a while. Did you kill him for his blanket?

Seriously, while no one is perfect Mrs Lintra gets pretty darned close in my eyes. Okay, enough goopy talk. (Isn't it disgusting when old people are in love?).
