Gothic 2 Gold: NA finally gets Night of the Raven |
|
After countless delays, fansite JoWood News is reporting Navarre will be releasing Gothic 2 Gold, which presumably includes the long-awaited Night of the Raven expansion, in the US with an expected date of October 24th, at US$19.99.

With Aspyr as publisher no less? They really *are* branching out - they've been a fave Mac source for me for years, and now they're doing Stubbs the Zombie, and picking up this ... at first my heart jumped, thinking 'Gothic 2 for Mac?!?!' - but then I realized what was going on.
I hope it is true ... I've been holding off importing and translating, waiting for 'the real thing'.

Looks like Aspyr also signed SpellForce Platinum, Europa 1400 - The Guild Gold and Silent Storm Gold. Same price, same date. _________________ Webmaster GothicDot |

How long until Europe gets its hands on the addon?
We have been waiting a lot longer then the us citizens for the addon. Let's hope it won't take so long after the possible us release. |

My heart skipped about 3 beats when I read that! Now I don't have to do something drastic to my scratched Gothic2 CD2 disk _________________ Paladin Rithe |

Hooray!
About freaking time. Bloody Atari.
Still, it's been that long since G2 that the wait will make it almost like a new one. |

Thanks for mentioning it, but this is old news. Several community members ordered at Bontonland during the last 1 or 2 months and received their game without problems. The Eastern European version works with both the UK and the US version of Gothic 2.
Shipping costs are enormous, though, which makes TNotR very expensive. Bontonland is also often out of stock, even if their website says something else. You should expect at least 2 weeks until the game arrives.
Buying/importing the US version will probably be more cost effective. _________________ Webmaster GothicDot |

what are the chances of them just throwing it on a dvd? with four cd's (G2 + NoTR) it would make life much easier |

The chances are slim. Publishers tend to think there are still a significant number of gamers without a DVD drive, especially in the budget range. Going DVD would shrink the target audience.
Have fun with 4 CDs in a DVD box. Lucas Arts sold the KotOR games that way in Germany. I heard they made a lot of new friends. _________________ Webmaster GothicDot |

I wish that there was some way of getting the expansion pack just by itself. I already have the game.

That's how publishers can be retarded. A DVD drive is far cheaper than the video card that it takes to run most PC games nowadays, and some games have been coming out DVD only lately (e.g. Splinter Cell Chaos Theory, GTA: San Andreas). The only people who don't have DVD drives probably can't run any games anyways. |

Do you think the add-on alone would be cheaper than this Gold Edition ? _________________ Webmaster GothicDot |
