Born Under The Ritual: Bad Idea? (Pope Chan I) |
|
I was excited to create a Holy Paladin character ~~ sort of a mix between Jackie Chan and the Pope ~~ so I made my character born under The Ritual. 14 Levels later, what I've come to find is that the two spells that come from being born under The Ritual, Blessed Word and Blessed Touch, are crap. No matter how many times I've used them, they appear to have NO effect on undead minions, like Skellies and the walking corpses. I was worried that maybe I was using the two inherent spells incorrectly, but I have tried using them in every way possible (there aren't too many scenerios).
My question: Anyone out there playing a Cleric type character born under The Ritual, and if so, have you found any benefits to this birth sign? Do you get the Blessed spells to work as they should? Am I expecting too much from these spells, and/or using them incorrectly?

I'm both bumping this, and adding to it by asking the question: Anyone born under The Ritual, and *happy* about it? What kind of character do you have? How has your success rate been with the 'Blessed' line of spells?
I'm thinking I'm the only one playing a Cleric-type character......and poorly, at that. |

I have never ever gotten the turn undead spells to work... complete waste of my time.
That said I have little magical training in the school of Conjuration. |

techically the turn undead should turn the targeted undead into your ally for 60 seconds. however Maras gift is incredibly useful... |

No it doesn't. It can have several effects in D&D. It can give a 'fear' effect where they flee and come back after a few seconds, it can 'turn' them to fight on your side (like charm), or if they are much lower level than the cleric, they can be destroyed. |
