I am going to install game and all that when i get home from work. So if you please, give me any advice you think valuable, on starting my Morrowind Gaming experience.

My Personal Recommendations: |
|
Make a custom class. Don't pick Medium Armour as a major or minor - not enough of it around to make it worthwhile (although Orcish looks *nice*). Don't pick athletics or acrobatics as a major or minor, they'll improve fine just as misc skills and you'll level too fast otherwise.
The Lady is a damn fine general purpose birthsign, +25 END and PER is quite an advantage in this game. However, for more specialised characters The Shadow or The Atronarch and the like are very powerful.
Enable screenshots before doing anything! I can almost guarantee you'll *want* to take a screenshot of something before you remember to turn it on if you don't. Edit the "enable screenshots" line in your Morrowind.ini file to end in "=1".
Don't throw yourself into the main quest too early - take your time and explore.
Above all, HAVE FUN! Don't get too stressed about things, as long as you don't make a fundamentally broken character (eg levels too fast or just doesn't have any useful skills) nothing is out of your reach. You can make a standard fighter and play that for a few weeks, then craft him to be an uber-wizard if you so wish. _________________ Charlie Dobbie

1)Find a empty house, or better yet download a house mod (personal recommendation - "A good place to stay" Mod) to put & organize all your armors, books, quest items, etc.
2)Don't sale things back to trader from whom you stold.

Save your game before setting out for each quest (its good to have 'milestone' saves that you can go back to in case something goes hideously wrong) and quicksave before entering ominous looking areas
Cliff Racers are evil, yet you'll probably gain most of your combat experience by fighting them. If they bug you too much, train your Marksman skill and pick up a projectile weapon to snipe them with. |

You should make 3 savegames:
1 quicksave
1 in between.
1 after quest. (real safety save) _________________ The original RED poster (retired now)

1. Don't use any money exploits (mudcrap or creeper)
2. Don't use healing potions during battles
3. Don't look for spoilers on the internet (where good items are)
4. Balance Main quest with guild quests -- in other words don't focus on the main quest but don't wait until you're level 20 to start the main quest either.
5. Don't steal for stealing's sake unless you really want to role play such a character. I.E. if you make a heavy armored basher, would he really be sneaking around stealing everything?
The most important item by far though is #1, 98% of those that claim the game is too easy use money exploits of some kind. They hardly ever admit it, but their talk of uber powerful weapons they enchanted sort of gives it away. _________________ I'm never right, so if you disagree with me you're probably on the right track. |

Download the patch and turn the difficulty slider UP.
Oh, and don't put anything in MAJOR SKILLS that you'll actually use or you'll find no challenge in the game. |

Game is balanced fine if you use common sense and don't want to get hundreds of hours of play. It lacks uber monsters to challenge people who play until all their skill are at 100, but for most people the game is too long if anything. The problem is that there are hundreds of hours of gameplay in the game, so Bethesda certainly should have taken that into account when balancing it, again though, for most people this is a non-issue.
It easily has enough balanced gameplay to surpass BGII, Gothic and other role playing games. Not saying you'll like it as much as those games, just saying that balance issues don't even come into play until you played the game longer than other role playing games. _________________ I'm never right, so if you disagree with me you're probably on the right track. |
