English subtitles for G2 addon?

Is there way to translate German g2 addon subtitles like someone did with original g2 german? I bought g2 addon in german, because i had g2 also in german, and i played it in german language with english subtitles. But now i can't play addon, because i don't understand german

I am sure it can be done, you just need to find someone with the skills who is willing to invest the time to do it.

Maybe after everyone finishes G2, and if it takes as long to release the addon as it did to release the original, then someone will get impatient and do it.

Jowood is the publisher for the german Gothic 2 and G2 Addon Version and Atari publish the international version. So Atari lose money if anyone make a english translation of the Addon and may sue the translator

I don't think they have any legal standing if someone just makes a free patch to translate the game into English.

If you play money to buy the German version then you have the right to apply any patch you see fit. Be it official or unnofficial.

No, you don´t.
Atari (at least I think it was Atari) threatened to sue the creators of a German fan patch to translate Civ3. The German version was released many months later. Work on the patch had to be stopped.

Why not? That doesnt make any sense to me.

Anyway, you don't have to be right to sue someone.

so i have to buy english versions of gothic 2 and it's addon, when addon comes?

i don't see point in having 2 versions of same game and i have both g2 + night of the raven in german and i am forced to buy these second time?

i think that this is nonsense, but as a big fan i am i must consider it, because gothic serie games are my favourite ones of all time

If you have a mail service, then you should be able to order it. There are places in the UK (check other threads) which will mail anywhere. You probably need a credit card like MC or Visa.

If anyone tries to make subtitles, just don't give an email address. They can't make you stop if they can't find you.

The problem about the add-on is that you simply can't build up on what's been translated before. The add-on also changes quite a number of quests and character conversation and adds new characters to the island. One would have to go through the whole text again and check which parts were changed and new.

IIRC the English subtitles for the demo were simply extracted from the full German version; this should be possible with the expanded German version.
