I'm guessing it'll use the latest edition of the D&D ruleset. It doesn't matter, it'll suck beyond belief anyway.

Nice attitude, Naked_Lunch
I try to believe it might be worthy of it's title but it's really hard

It already has a bunch of strikes against it, mainly:
A) It's 3D
B) It's not isometric
C) It's not being developed by Bioware or obisdian, and with Troika gone there's really no other development team that can handle such a load.

The question is : Is 3D the future for BG? I really don't think so, as for Fallout.

Good point, if it is 3d it wonīt be a real BG-game, but still it might be a nice game, not all 3D graphics are bad and imho they get only better, soon they will be as nice as 2D graphics

They're not using the infinity nor the neverwinter engine and the game won't be isometric.

If you didn't like the first 2 Baldurs Gate games you shouldn't even play RPG's.

Listen, you fucksticks, the Baldur's Gate series is not even close to being the end-all, be-all of RPGs. People have different opinons, SHOCKING! I personally detested both BG, NWN, and Kotor, but do I hate RPGs? No. I love them more than any other genre. The "thrill" of RPGs isn't getting ph4t l3wt and reaching lvl 100 so you can cast +9 chromatic orb on a bunch of fucking ancient red dragons, no it's actually motherfucking roleplaying and seeing how your actions unfold in the game world and carving out who you avatar is.

I have to agree that baldur's gate was not the best CRPG series. It was pretty good though for strategic fireball throwing and lich killing. The fighting was quite balanced and fun. The story sucked though. Unless you are like 12 years old or something. The dialogue literally made me wince. Both the dialogue and story were silly and seemed targeted toward a pre-teen demographic. There was so much that was great about the game though. I just clicked through the dialogue without reading it and killed off minsc as soon as possible.

Baldur's Gate 2 makes it on my top ten list of greatest CRPGs specifically for it's great strategic fighting. It may be just sophisticated hack and slash, but it does it so well. Bioware just needed Chris Avellone or Dave Maldonado to write the story and dialogue for them.

The weird thing about bioware is that they seem to realize the importance of story to a great CRPG, but they can never manage to hire any good writers.
