New to Gothic at all, haven't played either. The game I understand comes from Germany, which is cool. Probably won't find a better medium to see into another countries culture than through a game, (besides going there, of course), but here's my problem. I don't know the German language save what I've seen on Hogan's Heroes. The Installer software is in English, the cut scenes and talking .wav's (or whatever format) are in English, but the text menus are in German. I have no idea what anyone is saying, no idea what anything means. And I can't find a patch or anyone else addressing this issue for help. Anyone? |

What country did you buy it in? Is it Gothic or Gothic 2?

Sorry I wasn't very specific. I bought Gothic 1 in the US, and the trouble I was having was, ironically enough, foresight. I downloaded the patches for it before I even installed it (Both the "h" and "k" patches, as I use a Radeon). I installed the game and ran patches. Apparently even though the Patcher for "h" is in english, the game update info is in German. Removed the patch, runs like a champ.
I have a couple gripes so far, but I'm digging around the message boards to find answers or workarounds to em before I post it =) |

as far as i know there is no patch for the english version, you downloaded and installed the german patch  |

Well, there is an english patch for Radeons... I had to get that too
Although, i dont think it would change any of the text in the game...

Uninstall the whole thing and reinstall it only with patch 1.08k.

Gorath is correct, thats what i did with the patch from fileplanet, im american, and im almost done with the game now. Good game!  |
