How did you find RPGDot?

I'm curious to see how some people are finding the site. Many probably come due to their interest in the Gothic series. I know that's how I found this little corner of the Internet.
I remember downloading the Gothic demo from Fileplanet back in October of 2001. I was feeling bored and was looking for something to play. Since the person who posted the file wrote such a happy blurb about the game, it piqued my interest (Well, what do you know? Fileplanet is good for something!). I wasn't sure I'd like it, since back then I loved isometric games and was adverse to playing games with 3D graphics. I must have been truely bored since I installed it anyway, despite my hesitation, and started to play. I was immediately sucking in. The characters, the world, the story, the depth! I couldn't stop playing this darn 3D game! Everything was so pretty! The controls made sense! It was challenging! It was... alive! You can imagine my consternation at finding a 3D game that was actually interesting! How could this be? After Ultima 9 I didn't feel like touching any 3D games with a ten foot pole, nevermind playing one. But it was so much fun to play Gothic. "It must be mine!" I said to myself. Thus started my quest for a release date. Enter GothicDot.
Since GothicDot was the only place that seemed to have up-to-date news, I lurked around, then eventually joined the forums a few months later. I've been here ever since.

So, what brought you to the 'Dot?

Just a games news whore and I used to regularly troll the 'net for the latest. Not quite sure how I found it exactly but I would go from Blue's to Shacknews to RPG Vault to RPGDot and so on. At some point, I began starting here and the others faded from interest.

I found it looking for the Arx walkthrough. It was on the game disc to come here, and I found this to be the only site I want to post on.

I think it was from the official Wiz8 site. I used to tinker with Vault Network's Wiz8 forum, but went looking for a better home when they combined with IGN. "Better home" is an understatement. Wouldn't miss the Dot for nothing these days.

Hey, I remember this thread! Last time it came out that most people found it through Gothic.

In my case, Gothic of course.
I was given Gothic as a present (I wasn't really interested in this game - never planned to buy it). Played Gothic. Loved Gothic. Got stuck in Gothic. Looked for a solution. Followed a link to RPGDot. Got stuck in forums.

To think how different my life would be if I didn't get this game...

Gothic. I recived the game as gift also as Krzychu, and decided to try it. Got lost in the imense world without a map and only knew that i'm in Sect Camp so I looked for a map ... and found it here. Needed help several more times and then I joined the forums.

It might have been different. My memory is blurred its some time ago =)

I think I found it through Google while looking for RPG/CRPG stuff. Instead of finding this sight through Gothic, I found Gothic after finding this site. I bought it along with a few other games after I discovered them here (Divine Divinity, Wizardry .

About the same here, although the date was different, about a year or two later, and also the game, Gothic 2. And I wasn't bored, but just wanted another game that was similar to Severance Blade of Darkness and besides G2 I could only find RPG's with that horrible view from the top, instead of the over-the-shoulder view. And I downloaded it from Gamershell and not from Fileplanet.

Besides everything mentioned above, it was the same for me.
