Just thought I would get everyones hopes up with a publisher thread. Isn't the day almost over in Germany!?! Doesn't Thorsten know that its April 2 where you are supposed to do the tricks, Friday 13 is just supposed to be a bad luck day.

Just pushing this on top again. Wouldn't want Thorsten, or anyone else from PB, to miss this thread

How often for updates--weekly, monthly, when hell freezes over?

The Gothic forum has not been too happening. I guess there is no news to report. Everyone is just waiting for the English version to be released. At least me anyways! It is taking forever!

U want some news, Stiletto?

http://www.avault.com/news/displaynews.asp?story=8142001-10462

Phenomedia and Jowood Productions today signed an agreement regarding the worldwide distribution of nine games. The arrangement covers a total of 12 new releases on various platforms, with Phenomedia providing the content and Jowood publishing and distributing the products across the globe. The nine full-price titles include sequels to The Planner, Cultures, and the 3D role-playing game, Gothic, as well as new releases...

So? Am I understand that right? Torsten, tell us something!!!

This does look like good news... but I'd sure like to see an actual release date, too.

Well the only problem is it is the sequel. There is no mention of the current game. Hopefully this means they will announce something soon reguarding the original.

YES! YES! YES! I've got f*cking great news here! Just start to envy me and other russian gamers - one of our publishers has signed a deal to translate and distribute this cool game in Russia. Soon we can play fully russian Gothic! YES! YES! YES!

Congratulations Mr. Seagull. The rest of us just have to wait for them to publish the already translated already finished English version. I wonder what will take longer, publishing a finished game in English or redoing it in Russian. <: The race is on!

That means that I could either wait for Gothic to come out in my native language (Dutch) OR that I have to brush up on my German or Russian and go buy that version

It does make me wonder though...why would a already finished product, the English version of Gothic, be excluded from such a publishing deal?
Doesn't make *any* sense to me. They DO commit to the sequal and 8 other games but NOT to an excisting English version of the current Gothic?
Why whould they do that??
Where's the logic in that??

Anyone? Bueller? Thorsten? Buelller?

Snoekie

The only logic I can put to it is money. Its harder as a game company I would think to get a buyer for unmade unnamed games like the ones they did get a contract for. They might have been willing to negotiate a lower price per title seeing as they are getting such a large multi-game contract. But with Gothic, they may feel they have a game that is already prooven to be a revenue generator and might want a little more than JoWood was willing to offer in the multi-game deal. Just an idea of course <:
