I usually play in first person, it's easier, I only play third when I need to or when I wanna check out how a new spell looks etc.

3rd person with the camera drawn back as far as possible. If the framerate varies too widely in 1st person mode, I get dizzy.

A bit of both, I suppose. I find 1st person more immersive but 3rd is practical to get a better view of anything coming up beside/behind you. 1st person can be very useful in confined spaces, as mentioned. If devs implement both views then everyone is catered for!
