I actually saw the D&D movie again a couple of days ago. I was tired and bored and the only thing I had available at the time. The first time I saw it was not a very pleasant memory. So with no expectations of a good time at all, the movie actually seemed ok. There is only one thing I really hate about that film. Wayans’ thief character is just a plain kleptomaniac. How stupid is that? Why the hell does he need to steal pots and pans?

To this day the only great Fantasy film in my opinion is the Fellowship of the Ring. That is not to say that there aren’t a lot of decent Fantasy movies out there. I have enjoyed a lot of; some would say very poor, Fantasy movies and still had a good time.

Personally a lot of movies with potential always seem to suffer flaws like; ending up on modern time Earth through some portal or having stupid annoying humor (e.g. Hercules & Xena series).

I also vote for Dragonlance – Chronicles. I still consider this the best D&D novels I've read to this day.

What about a Forgotten Realms TV-series? Do they still want to do that? I can’t say I’m too excited though. It will probably be Hercules all over again.

Forgotten Realm Tv series?? I wasn't even aware that they were planning to create a show based on that world. I guess i'm willing to give it a shot, considering that it will be the only new show that's gonna be based on a fantasy setting. Although, here in california, there are no previews of such a thing, but hopefully, they'll show it here too.

Does anyone remember the Unearthed Arcana based AD&D cartoons. They were my favorite when I was younger. I loved Venger....

I don't think I remember that one. I only remember the old D&D cartoon, where they got transported from the future to some kind of D&D realm, is that the same cartoon?

Well, they were transported via a rollercoaster or some such to the DnD realm. The reason I said Unearthed Arcana, is that was the addition to the AD&D rules that had barbarians, cavaliers, acrobats etc. in it.

I loved that cartoon at the time. It wasn't bad at all... well, except for Uni the Unicorn and Bobby the Barbarian...

I'm glad they got cameos in BG2 explaining what happened to them.

In Waukeen's Promenade, there is a weapon's shop. At the back, there are some portraits. In these portraits are the pictures and descriptions from the AD&D cartoons

Yep. In the back of the shop.

"It was said that this unlikely barbarian had a unicorn even smaller than himself. The unicorn, it is presumed, was also eaten by Tiamat."

The pictures are worth clicking on.

I remember seeing the pictures but I didn’t catch the reference at the time.

Btw. Wasn’t Tiamat that 3-headed Dragon that Venger was so afraid of?

Tiamat is a dragon deity, like Bahumat. Venger was right to be afraid of her.

Five headed, yes. One for each chromatic dragon. Black, green, blue, white, red.

i tend to agree that gemmel books seem to have been made as moviescripts, they would be perfect, especially the younger years of druss.
