"gametextAutoScroll" don't work !

Why ?
It's too fast to read subs.

Hey there Yu,

Welcome to the forums,

Here is the answer to similar question in another thread, the search facility at the top of the page is most useful and powerful for digging out older questions info's.

Go into your Gothic2/system/Gothic.ini file, open it with the default windows text editor, (notepad) make your way down to the line that says:-
"gametextautoscroll=1000" this is the speed setting in milliseconds of all the scroll speeds, now obviously, if you make the number higher, 2000 for example, then save, the text will then scroll slower, i dont know of the slowest speed that can be achieved, but try as slow a setting that you find is possible on your machine, if it can be at least quite slow, it may be sufficient to be able to read.
Hope this will help in some small way

Thank you wulf, but I knew about that article.

I tried to slow down the speaking sub's scroll speed all yesterday.
But, Finally I under stood is "gametextAutoScroll"'s value don't affect
speaking sub's speed ! It's work only about the non flame subs like "It's too far away" or "I don't have right key".

Already you knew from my reply, I can't treat English(reading & writing) well yet. But I really want to read G2 text slowly, and more enjoy playng G2 !

All your base are belong to us!

O.k Yu,

I understand you a bit clearer now, the speech in G2 cannot be slowed, but we know that the scroll speed can. We also know that the "ambient" - - the surrounding "subs" as you call them, can be turned off, look at this small section of the Gothic.ini file:-

subTitles=1
; ... choose if you want to see windows with spoken words (1) or not (0), default is 0

subTitlesAmbient=1
; ... set to 1 if you dont want to have subtitles for ambient talks (default: 1) [disabled if subTitles is off]

subTitlesPlayer=1
; ... activates (1) or deactivates (0) subtitles for the hero (default: 1) [disabled if subTitles is off]

subTitlesNoise=1
; ... activates (1) or deactivates (0) subtitles for surroundings npc ambient infos and talks (default: 0) [disabled if subTitles is off]

subTitles=1
; ... choose if you want to see windows with spoken words (1) or not (0), default is 0

Providing you have subtitles=1 (enabled) - - then you can set subTitlesAmbient=1 or subTitlesnoise=0

Turning off Ambient sounds (gossip, smalltalk) should not spoil the game unduly.

There seems to be a *difference* between subtitlesnoise and subtitlesambient
but i think the purpose will somewhat *overlap* - - maybe experiment a little ?
