Hi, I'm new around here and the only reason I found it was because of a review of Gothic. It received 74%. But it was my type of game just by looking at the printed images.

By default, I first got into this madness in the 1980s and the first of its kind was Dungeon Master on the Atari ST. I never stopped playing this game until I won it - about 16 hours later virtually the following day.

For 20 years I've never had ANYTHING come close to that experience...
Until Gothic arrived on a review I chanced by (I've been away from games making a living as a SAP ABAP programmer).

Gothic makes every other game I have EVER seen look pitifully under-developed. Gothic has design characters, graphical tour-de-force. I never expected to see in a RPG.

Gothic, once you get used to it (all of one night) has an interface to die for.

Gothic has the most comprehensive cheat system I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED.

Gothic, personally for me, is the best thing to have had happened to 3D RPGs.

It makes even the efforts of Baldur's Gate look - well, what was the point exactly - you barely had control over anything.

Gothic allows you to break rules, allows you to do what only comes as Human. It teaches you values that you might otherwise thought you should think in what amounts to pixels on a monitor.

It has a Germanesque antiquity to it that is difficult to accept at some points - but superficially, it's an "old world" - not a modern concept.

Gothic will do for RPG what Doom did for FPS.

I've personally sent an email to the developers giving all the support someone could give their dieing mother concerning whether or not that recognition should be their due in such a fantastically realised game - I haven't really seen much of it anywhere on the internet or magazines to prove this.
I'm almost at a lost for words as to why.

This is "world changing" for games development in 3D RPG and true interaction with NPC and the environment.

The graphical expertise displayed on both accounts truly astounds me in a way I cannot describe.

Gothic has literally caused me to upgrade my PC to the limit because of it - nothing else needs to be diaplayed just as high a quality as you can get it as Gothic makes you want to see it.

Night scenes actually cause me to check outside under the cause that it might be the same experience.

end//

No demand for ore? Why Jaz I'm shocked!
Gomez is going to think you're not doing your job.

Oh, I just received my premium today... no need for ore right now.

And Gomez'd better be nice to me before I decide to turn to one of his cronies for mentoring instead

GUARD: Ah! A new face? Keep quiet in the camp and don't mess around.
ME: Well, I'm going to clean the entire town!
GUARD: You think you're funny? I don't like funny guys!
...and he knocks you down.

This is said by the guard when you enter the OC threw the North Gate for the first time.

I agree.. it is a revolution within 3D RPG. I think it is better than Morrowind, and I am really looking forward to the sequel(new rumors talked about newyear instead of fall ).
