I understood it the second I read it. Unfortunately the lack of response may be due to the fact there is little anyone can do to help. Somebody that has completed the game (I haven't ) could probably send a savegame from about the point in the game he was at, but it wouldn't be his game with his stats and his inventory, and his solved quests (he'd be lucky to get the right guild).
As far as losing the savegame...
Did you only use one slot though the whole game? Bad move, as corrupted save games have been seen before. I regularly save to a pair of "NotSoQuick" save slots I've set up, mostly so I can go back and redo something differently if I think I made a mistake. I also create save points at major milestones like chapters. One quicksave may get corrupt, but not likely all of them. If you lost them all (HD crash, or accidental folder deletion) you are probably out of luck. The only chance would be an unerase utility to bring them back. If the files still exist, but G2 doesn't see them then that is really odd. In that case I'd suggest hiding them someplace, re-install G2, do a few saves and then try copying the old saves into whereever it put the new ones, might work. |

Yes you are right about that. But I am sure there must be someone out there with a savegame at that point for his guild. I am sure missing a couple of quests or having to re-do a few is the least of his concerns at the moment.
@ Sky: What guild do you need the save for?

Mages, Mercenaries or Paladins?

Well apart from the fact I havent gotten that far yet, I am a mage.
Does anyone else have a save game for Mercs anywhere near this?

A HD crash, that is bad. I ALMOST lost all my Gothic savegames the same way about a month ago about 2/3 of the way through it. After installing a new HD, operating system, and such, I hooked up the old HD again. I found that it was not completely dead (I assume yours is). Fortunately for me, my savegames were all still there.
At this point the best you can do is get a savegame from someone else. I can't help there, I really just began. I know there are a few people who have completed it, so maybe you can get one as a Merc. Its better than nothing. |
