I played Gothic and Gothic II and IMHO those are THE BEST gamez EVER...
(I checked the Top100 here on rpgdot and I was surprised to see that Gothic II in 11th position (is my all times favorite) while Gothic is 27th...
If someone can help me, I would like to play more games like Gothic...
Any sugestions ?
I also played: Morrowind, Mistmare - they looked to me Gothic like...
I also played: Diablo, NWN, Pool of Radiance - Ruins of Myth Drannor - not Gothic like
I didn't liked Wizardry 8 at all ... |

Another very Gothic-like game is Ultima 9, if you can find it. It is obvious to me that the Gohtic look and feel was very much influenced by U9. _________________ All shall hear the words of Karras...the words of Karras |

Arx Fatalis.
Gothic 1 is still my all time favorite game (haven't played Gothic 2 yet), but Arx is a close 2nd. In my opinion, nothing matches Gothic's immersion level like Arx Fatalis. |

"Redguard: an Elder Scrolls Adventure" bears a certain likeness to the Gothics. _________________ Jaz |

Arx Fatalis is probably your best bet. It has a few major bugs, but as long as you save frequently and in different slots you'll be fine. It is a really good game if you can avoid the "paralyzation bugs".
I haven't played this one yet, but Pirates of the Caribbean appears similar to Gothic. There was a patch released for U9 that fixed a HUGE amount of bugs and things. It was a combined effort of the original progamer developers and fans. Just to make it the game it could have been.
I saw it on some news and you can download it by doing a web search. It was released about 2 months ago, it really improved the game; too bad it was not around when the game was released full of horrible bugs.
I hear Pirates of the Caribean has alot of nasty bugs; but the potential was great game -a rush job in order to sell it when the movie came out. _________________ Wo ist mein Sumpfkraut? |

About pirates of Caribean Sea. I've been playing the game for 3 days several hours a day and the only thing that keeps me from playing whole night is my mom and the only bug I managed to spot was the fact that sometimes there is no space betwen words in dialogues. Like "tellhim". But it happends rather rarley. And I woudln't compare it to Gothic2. There is more trading and fighting with ships than duelling with swords. Altough if you want you can run around islands and do it.
And one question, is the game going to be released on PC? |

The patch wasn't out when I first played Arx Fatalis. I'll have to play it again, but with the patch this time. _________________ I am the founder and former leader of a guild in EQ, retired member of The Code in EQ, original member of KOE in AOE2, past Corporal of EVO in MOHAA, respected veteran of UT 2003, a conquerer of all decent games, and an aspiring game developer.

QFG5 really isn't very similar to Gothic hehhe... the only likeness is that both are in a medeival setting. QFG5 is more like an adventure game while Gothic 2 is more like an RPG. The entire QFG series is definately worth playing though ... it's my favourite series... but 5 was a big disappointment. |
