Server FAQ

For anyone unsure about how to join a game on our dedicated games server, here's a straightforward procedure which will get you up and running quickly.

1. If you have properly installed Neverwinter Nights, then start it up. Make sure you have the latest Update. Also be aware that for some mods you may need to have any or all of the following: One or more Expansions; CEP, one or more Hak files, custom portraits. These should be posted in the game announcement, so read it carefully.

2. Choose the Multiplayer option from the menu.

3. Here you'll have to enter your Player Name and Password. If you don't have one, create it now. This will be the name that pops up when you join the server. Making it something familiar will make it easier on you and the server Admins. Having the game remember the password is also nice, because you won't have to.

4. Once you have your Player Name and Password, click "Okay".

5. You'll now have several Multiplayer options. The easiest to use is "Join a LAN Game", or "Join an Internet Game"
Select either of these options.

6. Now, all you have to do is find the server. Click the "Direct Connect" option.

7. A pop-up box will appear asking for an IP address and password for joining the game.
The IP address is 195.149.21.207. The password will also be the same.
IP Address: [Enter IP address here]
Password: NwnrpgDoT
Click "Okay".
( A suggestion would be to add this IP to your Favourites, so you don't lose it.)

8. The game will now attempt to find the server. If the server isn't up yet, the connection will time out. Click "Cancel" and retry connecting in a minute or two. When the game finds the server, it will show up on the listing.

9. Select the server if you have more than one listed, and connect to it.

10. You can now select a character to play the game. Please do not bring characters with altered stats or over-powered weapons. You might not be able to join as the server will reject those types of characters. Make sure your character is prepped and ready when you join the game. Some mods that we will be running allow server only characters. That means you have to create a new character for the game and it will be stored on the server ready for you to use whenever you play that mod. This will normally be the case for any PW's we run between regularly scheduled specific games.

11. Please read the server rules if you haven't already done so.

12. Play and enjoy!

Added note for all planning to join a session. The DM will run the mod for 30 minutes from the stated start time. If no one shows to join, the mod will be shut down and the pw restarted at that point.

The DM's want you to join in, but don't want to sit and do nothing for two hours. If you know you want to play and will be late, just post a note in the session thread.

I've seen "PW" mentioned in a few places - what does it mean?

Good question. We tend to forget someone had to tell us what all those initials meant when we got the game. lol

PW is persistent world. Similar to other online worlds you can come and go from at will. The server saves your progress for you, and you can play anytime there is not a scheduled session going. Log in to the current one and check it out.

Server runs V 1.66 of NWN with all expansions and CEP v1.52 now.

I had a problem with the CEP installation that was fixed both on my rig and the sever by doing a copy and paste manually of the "cep1patch152.hak" into the NWN hak file. I did the same with all the haks so if you can't get to work that may be the solution, but the one above was the one the showed in log as missing even though it was listed as there after the auto installer was done.
